Trustees for West Melton Cemetery Appointed

PURSUANT to section fifty-five of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint The Paparua County Council
to be the trustees of the cemetery within the meaning of the said Act, known as the West Melton Cemetery, being the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to have the control and management thereof.
SCHEDULE
All that area in the Canterbury Land District, situated in Block XI, Rolleston Survey District, containing 5 acres, more or less, being Reserve 2356. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked H. 191/2/374, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Health at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. (Canterbury S.O. Plan 3633.)
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 24th day of May, 1949.

WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-sixty-seventh section of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest and notice thereof shall be published in the Gazette:
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve the lands in the North Auckland, Marlborough, Nelson, Westland, Canterbury, and Otago Land Districts, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be reserved.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Pahiatua County Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Pahiatua County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:-

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.
  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.
  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT
SECTION 2, Upper Makuri Village Settlement, Block X, Makuri Survey District: Area, 11 acres and 30 perches, more or less.
