Revoking the Reservation Over Reserves in Town of Ohakune, Wellington Land District

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 11th day of May, 1949

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by subsection one (b) of section seven of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the reservation for a site for public buildings of the General Government over the land described in the First Schedule hereto; and doth hereby revoke the reservation for a site for a Mechanic's Institute and Athenæum over the land described in the Second Schedule hereto; and doth hereby declare that the said lands, being vested in the Crown, are Crown lands available for disposal under the Land Act, 1948.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by subsection one (b) of section seven of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the reservation for municipal purposes over the lands described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby declare that the said lands, being vested in the Crown, are Crown lands available for disposal under the Land Act, 1948.

Withdrawing Land from the Operation of the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 11th day of May, 1949

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty-two of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, by Order in Council, on the recommendation of the Land Board, declare that any land comprised in a kauri-gum reserve shall, from a date to be specified in the Order, cease to be subject to the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908, and on and after the date so specified the land to which the Order relates shall become subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924:

And whereas the Land Board of the North Auckland Land District has duly passed a resolution recommending that the portion of the Opoe Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2, as described in the Schedule hereto be excepted from the operations of the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1948, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the portion of the Opoe Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2 as described in the Schedule hereto shall, from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, cease to be subject to the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Mangonui, containing by admeasurement 97 acres 3 roods 10 perches, more or less, being Section 36, Block IV, Opoe Survey District, and being part of Opoe Kauri Gum Reserve Extension No. 2. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 26/25699, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon edged red. Setting Apart Maori Land as a Maori Reservation

PURSUANT to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the owners thereof as a marae and meeting-place.

Increasing Borrowing-powers of North Shore Fire Board

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 11th day of May, 1949

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS it is provided by section thirty-one of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926 (hereinafter called the said Act), that the Governor-General in Council, may, on the application of any Fire Board established under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, extend the powers of that Board to borrow moneys in excess of the limits fixed by the said section:

And whereas application has been made by the North Shore Fire Board for such increase in the borrowing-powers of the said board as provided by the said section thirty-one; and it is desirable to grant such request:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the powers of the said Board to borrow moneys in excess of the limits fixed by the said section thirty-one are hereby extended, but so as not to exceed the sum of thirteen thousand pounds: Provided that no moneys as aforesaid shall be borrowed except subject to the provisions of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and its amendments.
