DECLARATION BY ASSISTANT REGISTRAR DISSOLVING SOCIETIES

I, DAFYDD STRACHAN EVANS, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Christchurch Milk Vendors’ Association (Incorporated) and Timaru Red Band Taxis (Incorporated) are no longer carrying on their operations, the aforesaid societies are hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

THE CAWTHRON INSTITUTE TRUST BOARD EMPOWERING ACT, 1949

In the matter of a private estate Bill intended to be brought into the General Assembly of New Zealand the short title of which is “The Cawthron Institute Trust Board Empowering Act, 1949.”

IN pursuance of the standing rules and orders of the General Assembly of New Zealand relating to Private Bills, notice is hereby given that the Cawthron Institute Trust Board, incorporated under the Thomas Cawthron Trust Act, 1924, having its office in the City of Nelson, intends to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the next session of the said General Assembly to be held thirty days after the last publication of this advertisement praying and applying for leave to bring in a Private Bill to be called The Cawthron Institute Trust Board Empowering Act, 1949.

The objects for the proposed Bill are—

  1. To authorize the sale by the Cawthron Institute Trust Board of the whole or any part of that piece of land containing sixty-eight acres two roods two perches (68 acres 2 roods 2 perches), more or less, being Lot 5 on plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Nelson under No. 2072, and Lot 2 on plan deposited in the Land Registry Office aforesaid under No. 2784, and being part Sections 47, 49, and 50, Block IV, Waimea Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 70, folio 40, and Vol. 83, folio 30 (Nelson Registry) together with all buildings and improvements thereon in one or more lots either by public auction or private contract as the Board may deem fit, freed and discharged from the trusts now affecting the same created by the will of the late James Wilfred Marsden, deceased.

  2. To empower the said Board to apply the proceeds of such sale in carrying on work of a similar kind to that for which the said land was devised to the Board, including the purchase of other lands in the provincial District of Nelson, to be held by the said Board upon similar trusts in all respects to the trusts declared in the will of the said James Wilfred Marsden in respect of the above-mentioned land and the establishment thereon of an experimental station.

  3. To authorize the said Board, pending the application of the proceeds of such sale as aforesaid, to invest any moneys arising therefrom or any part thereof in any manner in which the Board is authorized by law to invest trust-moneys, and to apply the income arising from such investments in or towards the same purposes to which the capital moneys are to be appropriated, or, in the discretion of the said Board, in carrying on work of a similar kind to that for which the said lands were devised to the Board.

  4. To authorize the said Board to lease the said land or any parts thereof and to apply the income to be derived therefrom in carrying on work of a similar kind to that for which the said lands were devised to the Board.

  5. To empower the said Board to invest the funds of the Board on first mortgage of certain leasehold property.

Copies of the said proposed Bill will be deposited in the Private Bill office of the General Assembly of New Zealand not earlier than thirty days before and not later than fourteen days after the commencement of the session in which it is proposed to bring in the said Bill.

MANAWATU-OROUA ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Electrical Reticulation Redemption Loan, 1949, £5,800

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of principal, interest, and other charges on the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-power Board Electrical Reticulation Redemption Loan, 1949, (£5,800), authorized to be raised by the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of redeeming at maturity the outstanding liability (£5,800), being portion of £10,000 of the Electrical Reticulation Loan No. 2, 1938, of £25,000, the said board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-sixtieth (1/60th) of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-power Board District as defined in the Proclamation appearing in the New Zealand Gazette on the 24th August, 1939 ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten (10) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-power Board held at Palmerston North on the 11th day of April, 1949.
