HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased, in pursuance of subclause (2) of Regulations 3 of the Invercargill Milk Treatment Corporation Regulations 1949, to appoint—

Varying Determinations by the Minister of Customs Under Section 16 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1934

Wellington, 11th April, 1949.
PURSUANT to section 16 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act 1934, the Minister of Customs doth hereby vary the determinations made under the said section 16, dated the 29th day of April, 1939, and published in the Gazette on the 11th day of May, 1939, at page 1457, by adding to paragraph 4 of Part II thereof, the undermentioned goods which, if imported, shall not, except with the special permission of the Minister and under conditions prescribed by him, be used in the assembly, completion, or manufacture of motor-vehicles of any of the classes mentioned in Part I thereof :—
Wireless broadcast receiving-sets suited or designed for use in motor-vehicles.
This variation of the aforesaid determinations shall take effect on the 1st day of May, 1949.

Defence Rifle Club Redesignated

The “Legion of Frontiersmen (Dunedin City Troop) Defence Rifle Club,” with headquarters at Dunedin, is redesignated “Legion of Frontiersmen (R Squadron) Defence Rifle Club.” Dated 18th March, 1949.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations, 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply :—
A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market garden of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman :
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did, on the 23rd day of March, 1949, make an order determining the basic value of the land, and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 14th day of April, 1949, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area situated in Block VII, Ngaere Survey District, containing by admeasurement one hundred and forty-eight (148) acres, more or less, being Lot 13, D.P. 1082, part Pukengahu No. 1 Block, and being all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 47, folio 114 (Taranaki Registry), together with drainage rights appurtenant to above land created in Transfer No. 30414.
Also all that area situated in Blocks VIII and XI, Ngaere Survey District, containing by admeasurement three hundred and eight (308) acres two (2) roods thirty-two (32) perches, more or less, being Lot 14 and part Lot 15, D.P. 1082, part Pukengahu No. 1 Block, and being all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 63, folio 17 (Taranaki Registry), together with drainage rights appurtenant to above land created in Transfer No. 30414.
Also all that area situated in Block VII, Ngaere Survey District, containing by admeasurement one hundred and fifty-eight (158) acres, more or less, being Lot 16, D.P. 1082, part Pukengahu No. 1 Block, and being all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 54, folio 51 (Taranaki Registry), subject to drainage rights created in Transfer No. 30414.
