HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, relinquishment of commission, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Regular Force—
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. N. Griggs to be Captain. Dated 14th December, 1948.
Territorial Force—
2nd N.Z. Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C.—
Temp. Major E. F. Laws, E.D., from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Major, with seniority from 14th March, 1937, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), Area 6. Dated 18th April, 1947.
THE ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS
Territorial Force—
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) A. J. W. Dobson, seconded to the Howick District High School Cadets, is confirmed.
THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS
Territorial Force—
3rd Infantry Brigade—
Temp. Brigadier J. T. Burrows, D.S.O., E.D., from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Brigadier, with seniority from 1st July, 1944, and is appointed Commander, 3rd Infantry Brigade. Dated 1st December, 1948.
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) R. S. McKenzie, seconded to the Otahuhu College Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) J. E. Powell, seconded to the Seddon Memorial Technical College Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) R. A. Scott, seconded to the Takapuna Grammar School Cadets, is confirmed.
The Hauraki Regiment—
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) I. S. Hamilton, seconded to the Rotorua High School Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) S. H. Lee, seconded to the Tauranga College Cadets, is confirmed.
The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own)—
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 4, dated 27th January, 1949, relative to the relinquishment of commission of temp. Captain F. B. Bath, for “Dated 14th January, 1949,” substitute “Dated 16th January, 1949.”
The Hawkes Bay Regiment—
Temp. Lieutenant T. R. Chadwick to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 1st August, 1948, and remains seconded to the Dannevirke High School Cadets. Dated 10th September, 1948.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant F. N. Tritt to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 13th July, 1947, and remains seconded to the Dannevirke High School Cadets. Dated 10th September, 1948.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) C. C. Brown, seconded to the Napier Boys’ High School Cadets, is confirmed.
The Canterbury Regiment—
2nd Lieutenant M. B. Mabin to be temp. Lieutenant and remains seconded to S. Andrew’s College Cadets. Dated 1st December, 1948.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) E. B. Read, seconded to the Christchurch Boys’ High School Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) G. A. Hillind, seconded to the Timaru Boys’ High School Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) T. F. Kennedy, seconded to the Christchurch Technical College Cadets, is confirmed.
The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment—
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) K. R. Askew, seconded to the Moteuka District High School Cadets, is confirmed.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) B. G. Overton, seconded to the Nelson College Cadets, is confirmed.
The Otago and Southland Regiment—
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) H. D. Ryan, seconded to the Southland Technical College Cadets, is confirmed.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS
Regular Force—
Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) R. Stroud to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Captain G. J. H. Atkinson, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be temp. Lieutenant (on prob.) and is posted for duty to Main Ordnance Depot, Trentham, as Group Officer, Group 9 (Engineers Stores). Dated 17th February, 1949.
