Constitution of Rural Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 16th day of February, 1949

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a rural fire district, to be known as the “Hauraki Plains Rural Fire District”; and doth hereby specify the trees, flax, and other plants and peat lands in the said area as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted; and doth hereby further specify the period between the first day of October in any one year and the thirtieth day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) as a closed fire season in the said district; and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force and that the Hauraki Plains Rural Fire District shall become a rural fire district on the day following publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette; and doth hereby prescribe that the said district shall be administered for the purposes of the said Act by the Commissioner of State Forests.

SCHEDULE

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY

Hauraki Plains Rural Fire District

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Hauraki Plains and Piako Counties, containing approximately 77,000 acres, situated in Block X, Wharekawa Survey District, Blocks III, IV, VIII, and XII, Piako Survey District, Blocks I, V, VI, IX, X, XI, XIII, XIV, and XV, Waihou Survey District, and Blocks I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, and VIII, Waitoa Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the south-western corner of Section 8, Block X, Wharekawa Survey District; towards the north by the southern boundary of Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, across the Pouarua Road, and by the southern boundary of Sections 13, 14, and 15, all of Block X, Wharekawa Survey District, to the north-west corner of Section 20, Block X, Thames Survey District; towards the east by the western boundary of the said Section 20, and by the western boundary of Section 2A, Block I, Waihou Survey District, across the Hopai Road, by the western boundaries of Section 4, Lots 1 and 2 of Section 6, across Rawerawe Road, by the western boundaries of Lot 1 of Section 15, and Section 17, all of the said Block I, Waihou Survey District, and across Orchard West Road; again towards the north and east by Orchard West Road, the west boundary of Section 21, Block I, Waihou Survey District, and across Phillips Road; again towards the north by Phillips Road; again towards the east by the Ngatea-Kaihere Road to the left bank of the Piako River, and by the said river-bank to the Reservoir Canal; again towards the north by the said Reservoir Canal to the Awaiiti Canal; again towards the east generally by the said Awaiiti Canal to and across an intercepting canal; again towards the north by the said intercepting canal and its production to the Netherton-Tirohia Road; and again towards the east generally by the said Netherton-Tirohia Road to the northern boundary of Te Awaiiti 1H 2B, Block IV, Waitoa Survey District, by that boundary to the north-west corner of Te Awaiiti 1H 2B, and by the western boundary of the said Te Awaiiti 1H 2B

and its production to the Tirohia-Otway Road; towards the north-west by the said Tirohia-Otway Road to the left bank of the Waihou River; and again towards the east generally by the said river-bank to the southern boundary of Section 4 on Land Transfer Plan No. 3118A; towards the south generally by a public road, and across a public road to a point in line with the production of the western boundary of Section 5, Block VIII, Waitoa Survey District; by a line drawn from this point to the easternmost corner of Section 13, Otway Settlement, Block VII, Waitoa Survey District, and by the eastern and northern boundaries of the said Section 13 to and across the Tirohia-Otway Road, and by the northern boundaries of Sections 12, 9, 10, 11, and 1, Otway Settlement, to the eastern boundary of Putea Hapa Hapai, and by the said eastern boundary to the Waitoa River, and by that river to and along the Paeroa-Tahuna Road to the south-west corner of Section 9, Block VI, Waitoa Survey District, and by the west boundary of Section 9 and the north boundary of Section 8, Block VI, Waitoa Survey District, to West Road; towards the west generally by the said West Road to the Piako River, and by the said river to the northern boundary of part Maukoro Block, Blocks I and II, Waitoa Survey District, and by the last-mentioned boundary to the Patetonga-Morrinsville Road; by a public road forming the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Waitoa Survey District, and by the northern boundary of Section 6, Block I aforesaid, to the Patetonga-Morrinsville Road; by the last-mentioned road to the north-west corner of Section 44, Block XIII, Waihou Survey District; by the northern boundary of the said Section 44 and the west and north boundaries of Section 43, to and across a public road, and by the said public road to and across the Waikaka Tramway Road, and by the last-mentioned road to the south-west corner of Waikaka C 2A 1 Block; by the western boundary of this block and the northern boundaries of Waikaka C 2A 3 and C 2A 2 Blocks, and Section 5, Block XIII, Waihou Survey District, to the Waitakaruru-Morrinsville Road, and by this road to the north-west corner of Section 7, Block XIII, Waihou Survey District; thence by a public road forming the northern boundary of the said Section 7 and the western boundary of Sections 18 and 19 to and across the Mangawhero Road, continuing along the western boundary of Section 21, Block XII, Piako Survey District, to the southern boundary of Ngarua Part 1B 1 Block; by the southern and western boundaries of this block to the north-east corner of Section 13, Block XVI, Piako Survey District; thence by a line to the south-east corner of Section 28, Block XII, Piako Survey District; by the eastern boundary of the said Section 28 to and along the south boundary of Section 27 to the aforesaid Waitakaruru-Morrinsville Road, and by the said road to the south corner of Section 12, Cemetery Reserve, Block XII, Piako Survey District; by the southern boundaries of Sections 12, 41, and 40, and the eastern boundary of the said Section 40 to and across the Torehape-Puhanga Road; by that road and by the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 37, Block XII, Piako Survey District, to the aforesaid Waitakaruru-Morrinsville Road, and by that road and the Mahuta Road to the most southerly corner of Section 1, Block IV, Piako Survey District; thence by the south and east boundaries of the said Section 1 and the south boundary of Section 18, Block IV, Piako Survey District, across the Maukoro Canal to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan No. 26/43, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
