COROMANDEL COUNTY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR A QUARRY
In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and the Public Works Act, 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Coromandel County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the Otama Quarry—and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken.
Notice is hereby further given that a plan (Survey Office No. 32896) of the lands required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Clerk to the said Council situate at the Council Chambers, Kapanga Road, Coromandel, and is open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing, and send the same to or lodge the same at the office of the County Council, Kapanga Road, Coromandel, within forty days from the first publication of this notice—i.e., on or before the 22nd day of December, 1948.

AREA of parcels of land to be taken: 1 acre 1 rood 30·3 perches.
Description: Part Section 6, Block 1, Otama Survey District; coloured yellow on map.
Situate in the County of Coromandel.

HAWKE'S BAY RIVERS BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATES
THE following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board held on the 6th day of December, 1948:
"In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, The Hawke's Bay Rivers Board hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest, principal, and other charges on a loan of £23,400, known as the 'Ngaruroro Renewal Loan, 1948', authorized to be raised by the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off the balance of the £40,000 loan, portion of the Ngaruroro River Control Loan, 1935, of £60,000, the said the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board hereby makes and levies the special rates enumerated hereunder upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the respective wards comprising the Hawke's Bay Rivers District set opposite the said serval rates, namely:
"Ward No. 1: Seven-fiftieths (7/50ths) of a penny in the pound (£);
"Ward No. 2: Seven-twentieths (7/20ths) of a penny in the pound (£);
"Ward No. 3: Seven-twentieths (7/20ths) of a penny in the pound (£);
"Ward No. 4: Twenty-three two-hundredths (23/200ths) of a penny in the pound (£);
"Ward No. 5: Twenty-two five-hundredths (22/500ths) of a penny in the pound (£);
and that such special rates shall be annual-recurring rates during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan,
being a period of ten (10) years or until the loan is fully paid off."

RESOLUTIONS MAKING SPECIAL RATES
THE following resolutions were passed at a meeting of the Napier Borough Council held on the 29th day of November, 1948:
"In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Napier Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest, principal and other charges on a loan of £1,960, known as the 'Works Renewal Loan, 1949' authorized to be raised by the Napier Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off the balance of portion £5,000 of the Works Loan, 1938, £6,000, the said Napier Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of fifty-eight one-thousandths (58/1000ths) of a penny (d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the Borough of Napier; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 17th day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of five (5) years or until the loan is fully paid off."
"In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Napier Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing interest, principal, and other charges on a loan of £4,100, known as the 'Reservoir Renewal Loan, 1948,' authorized to be raised by the Napier Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off the balance of the £7,000 loan, portion of the Low Level Reservoir Loan, 1938, of £25,000, the said the Napier Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of sixty-five one-thousandths (65/1000ths) of a penny (d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the Borough of Napier; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 17th day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten (10) years or until the loan is fully paid off."

"In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Napier Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest, principal, and other charges on a loan of £18,000, part of the Marewa Sewerage Loan, 1946, authorized, to be raised by the Napier Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of installing sewerage in that part of the Borough of Napier known as Marewa, installing a pumping station and equipment, and installing rising mains to Port Ahuriri, and payment of incidental expenses, the said the Napier Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of fifteen one-hundredths (15/100ths) of a penny (d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the Borough of Napier; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 17th day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five (25) years or until the loan is fully paid off."

NORTH CANTERBURY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and all other powers enabling it thereto, the North Canterbury Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest, repayment of principal, and other charges on a loan of £5,800, authorized to be raised by the North Canterbury Electric-power Board under the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and the Finance Act (No. 2), 1936, for the purpose of providing additional moneys for the extension of the electrical-reticulation system in those portions of the Rangiora, Kowai, Eyre, Oxford, and Ashley Counties originally constituting the Board's district (vide Proclamation dated 26th February, 1927), and in that portion of the Waipara County now included in the district, the North Canterbury Electric-power Board makes and levies a special rate of 1/65d. in the £ on the capital value of all rateable property in the special rating area cited above; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of the said loan and be payable yearly on the lst day of November in each and every year during the currency of the said loan, being a period of fifteen years or until the loan is fully paid off."
I, Henry Thompson Metherell, Chairman of the North Canterbury Electric-power Board, do hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the North Canterbury Electric-power Board held in Rangiora on the 14th day of December, 1948.
