Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas
Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Peter Fraser, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.
SCHEDULE
NEW PLYMOUTH TRIBAL DISTRICT
Moturoa Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Lot 32 on the plan numbered 1704, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at New Plymouth, and being a point on the boundary of the Borough of New Plymouth, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 1941 at page 1488; thence north-westerly and easterly generally along the boundaries of that borough to the south-western side of Belt Road; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of that road and Sanders Avenue to the north-western side of Clawton Street; thence south-easterly along a right line to the north-western corner of Lot 32 aforesaid, being the point of commencement.
Central Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at the point where the south-western side of Belt Road meets the sea-coast; thence easterly along the sea-coast to the south-western side of Hobson Street; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of that street and its production to the left bank of the Henui River, being a point on the boundary of the Borough of New Plymouth, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 1941 at page 1488; thence south-westerly and north-westerly generally along the boundary of that borough to the north-western corner of Lot 32 on the plan numbered 1704, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at New Plymouth; thence north-westerly along a right line to the intersection of the north-western side of Clawton Street and the south-western side of Sanders Avenue; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of Sanders Avenue and Belt Road to the sea-coast, being the point of commencement.
Fitzroy Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at the point where the south-western side of Hobson Street meets the sea-coast; thence north-easterly generally along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Waiwakaiho River; thence up the left bank of that river to the south-western side of Smart Road; thence south-easterly along a right line across the Waiwakaiho River, to and along the south-western side of Smart Road to the eastern corner of Section 186, Hua and Waiwakaiho Hundred; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 186 and its production to the left bank of the Henui River; thence up the left bank of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Hobson Street; thence north-westerly along a right line to and along the north-western side of Hobson Street to the sea-coast, being the point of commencement.

SCHEDULE
SOUTH WAIRARAPA TRIBAL DISTRICT
Moroa Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station Bidwill in Block VIII, Wairarapa Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line passing through Trig. Station Rimutaka on the western boundary of Block II, Wairarapa Survey District, to the summit of the Rimutaka Range, being the boundary of the Featherston County, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1940 at page 3457; thence northerly and south-easterly generally along that county boundary and the boundary of the County of Wairarapa South, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1932 at page 1217, to the southern corner of Section 63, Block XIV, Otahoua Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station Maungaraki in Block XIV, Otahoua Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station Bidwill aforesaid, being the point of commencement.
Martinborough Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station Bidwill in Block VIII, Wairarapa Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Maungaraki in Block XIV, Otahoua Survey District, and a right line to the southern corner of Section 63, Block XIV, Otahoua Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Wairarapa South County, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1932 at page 1217; thence south-easterly generally along that boundary to the sea-coast; thence south-westerly generally along the sea-coast to a point on the production of a right line from Trig. Station Whare in Block X, Waipawa Survey District, to Trig. Station Te Awaite in Block III, Opouawe Survey District; thence north-westerly to and along that right line to Trig. Station Whare aforesaid, and a right line to Trig. Station Bidwill, being the point of commencement.
Pirinoa Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station Bidwill in Block VIII, Wairarapa Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line passing through Trig. Station Rimutaka on the western boundary of Block II, Wairarapa Survey District, to the summit of the Rimutaka Range, being the boundary of the Featherston County, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1940 at page 3457; thence south-westerly generally along that county boundary to the sea-coast; thence south-easterly and north-easterly generally to a point on the production of a right line from Trig. NGARAURU TRIBAL DISTRICT
Kai-iwi Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Okehu Stream; thence northerly along a right line to Trig. Station J in Block X, Nukumaru Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station Okiwa in Block VI, Nukumaru Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station Orangihoangi; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Te Rewa on the north-eastern boundary of Block IV, Nukumaru Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station Ratamarumaru in Block VIII, Nukumaru Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station XXIII on the south-eastern boundary of Block XI, Nukumaru Survey District; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Blocks XI and XV, Nukumaru Survey District, to the sea-coast; thence north-westerly along the sea-coast, and a right line to a point in the middle of the mouth of the Okehu Stream, being the point of commencement.
Pakaraka-Maxwell Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Okehu Stream; thence north-westerly to and along the sea-coast to the south-eastern corner of the Wairoa Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Puketarata and its production to the middle of the Mangaone Stream; thence easterly up the middle of that stream to the western boundary of the Kai-iwi Tribal Committee area hereinbefore described; thence southerly along that boundary to a point in the middle of the mouth of the Okehu Stream, being the point of commencement.
Nukumaru Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast due south of Trig. Station O in Block XIV, Wairoa Survey District; thence due north to Trig. Station O; thence northerly along a right line to Trig. Station Q in Block XIII, Wairoa Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station J in Block IX, Wairoa Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station TT in Block II, Omahine Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Orangihoangi, being a point on the boundary of the Kai-iwi Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence southerly along the western boundary of that area and westerly and south-westerly along the northern and north-western boundaries of the Pakaraka-Maxwell Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described to the south-eastern corner of the Wairoa Survey District; thence westerly along the sea-coast to a point due south of Trig. Station O aforesaid, being the point of commencement.
Ihupuku Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast due south of Trig. Station O in Block XIV, Wairoa Survey District; thence westerly along the sea-coast and a right line to a point in the middle of the mouth of the Whenuakura River; thence north-easterly up the middle of that river to a point on the production of a right line from Trig. Station VI in Block XII, Wairoa Survey District, to Trig. Station XXA in Block V, Carlyle Survey District; thence south-easterly to and along that right line to Trig. Station VI aforesaid, and a right line passing through Trig. Station V in Block XIII, Wairoa Survey District, to the western boundary of the Nukumaru Tribal Committee area hereinbefore described; thence southerly along the western boundary of that area to a point on the sea-coast due south of Trig. Station O, being the point of commencement.
