Proclaiming a Tribal District under the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section six of the Maori Social and Economic
Advancement Act, 1945, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard
Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby declare the part of New Zealand described in
the Schedule hereto to be a tribal district for the purposes of the
said Act, and do hereby assign to the said district the name "South
Wairarapa Tribal District."

SCHEDULE
THE SOUTH WAIRARAPA TRIBAL DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, comprising the
County of Wairarapa South, as described in New Zealand Gazette
of 1932 at page 1217; the County of Featherston, as described in
New Zealand Gazette of 1940 at page 3457; the Borough of Carterton,
as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1921 at page 501; the
Borough of Greytown, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1926
at page 1655; the Borough of Featherston, as described in New
Zealand Gazette
of 1940 at page 3457; and the Borough of Martin-
borough, as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1928 at page 883.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the

The Magistrates' Courts Act Commencement Order 1948

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS by subsection two of section one of the Magistrates'
Courts Act, 1947, it is provided that that Act shall come into
force on a date to be appointed by the commencement thereof by
the Governor-General by Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril
Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby proclaim as follows:—

  1. This Proclamation may be cited as the Magistrates' Courts
    Act Commencement Order 1948.
  2. The Magistrates' Courts Act, 1947, shall come into force on
    the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal
of that Dominion, this 15th day of December, 1948.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-
General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the additional land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
taken for waterworks and shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and
Citizens of the City of Auckland as from the date hereinafter
mentioned; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take
effect on and after the twentieth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and forty-eight.

housing purposes; and I do also declare that this Proclamation
shall take effect on and after the twentieth day of December, one
thousand nine hundred and forty-eight.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 116 acres 3 roods
20 perches.
Being Sections 3 and 4, Grey District, and Part Section 1, Fitzroy
District; and Part Sections 9, 17, and 26, Fitzroy District,
D.P. 3030, and Parts Maori Reserve 1 and Section 16, Grey
District, D.P. 3030.
Situated in Block IV, Paritutu Survey District (Taranaki
R.D.). (S.O. 8316.)
In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particu-
larly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 127820, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon
bordered blue.
