Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936


Pharmacy Industry

P. Koretz, 3 Redwood Street, Auckland, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at Great North Road, New Lynn, Auckland.

P. E. H. Golding, 2 Elizabeth Street, Ponsonby, Auckland, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at 300 Queen Street, Auckland.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

H. Bradbury, Hautapu, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed outside store premises at Hautapu.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 16th December, 1948, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, Box 3025, Wellington.

Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942.—Wartime Price Index


IN accordance with Regulation 41 of the Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942, it is hereby notified that the wartime price index as at the 15th day of September, 1948 (on base: 15th December, 1942 = 1000), was 1098. This figure indicates that, after seasonal adjustment has been made in respect of certain commodities, the prices of which are subject to seasonal movement, the general level of prices of commodities, &c., included in the wartime price index was 9·8 per cent. higher at 15th September, 1948, than at 15th December, 1942.

BOROUGH OF MATAURA

Result of Poll, General Purposes Loan, 1948, £10,000

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mataura, taken on the 20th day of November, 1948, on the proposal of the Mataura Borough Council to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the following purposes:—

(a) Improvements to footpaths in the borough (£3,200);
(b) Sewer extensions in the borough (£3,400);
(c) Water extensions in the borough (£1,400);
(d) Public hall improvements (£600);
(e) Purchase of machinery for maintenance work in the borough (£1,000);
(f) General contingencies (£400).

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 93
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was .. 69

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
