Constitution of Rural Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of November, 1948
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a rural fire district, to be known as the "Waipoua Rural Fire District"; and doth hereby specify the trees and other plants in the State forests in the said area as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted; and doth hereby specify the period between the first day of October in any one year and the thirtieth day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) as a closed fire season in the said district; and doth hereby prescribe that the said Waipoua Rural Fire District shall be administered by the Commissioner of State Forests for the purpose of the said Act; and doth hereby further declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the day following publication thereof in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY
Waipoua Rural Fire District
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Hokianga and Hobson Counties, containing approximately 62,500 acres, situated in Block VIII, Hokianga Survey District, Blocks XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Waoku Survey District, and Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X, Waipoua Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-west by the Waimamaku River and Wairou North Nos. 4E, 4D, 4B 2, 4A 4, 3A, and 2A Blocks; towards the north generally by Sections 11, 8, 5, 6, 7, and 12, Block XIII, Waoku Survey District, Sections 13, 12, 10, 7, and 8, Block XIV, Waoku Survey District, by the Waimamaku River, and the crossing of that river and the Waimamaku Valley Road, and thence by the northern sides of the Waimamaku Valley Road and Wekaweka Road; towards the north-west by the north-western side of a road; towards the east by the eastern sides of the Old Opanake-Hokianga Road and the Waoku Road; towards the north, and again towards the east by the northern and eastern sides of the Waoku Road; towards the south-east by the south-eastern side of Marlborough Road; towards the east by Sections 17 and 12, Block VIII, Waipoua Survey District; towards the south-east by the south-eastern side of the Donnelly's Crossing-Kaikohe Main Highway; towards the south by Sections 25 and 24, Block XI, Waipoua Survey District, and Sections 22 and 24, Block X, Waipoua Survey District; towards the south-east by the south-eastern side of Marlborough Road; towards the south-west by the south-western side of the Waimamaku-Kaihu Main Highway; towards the south-east by Sections 30, 12, 25, and 26, Block X, Waipoua Survey District, and Waipoua No. 2A 1B Block; and towards the south-west by the Tasman Sea. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 7/36, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Great Barrier Rural Fire District
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Great Barrier County, containing approximately 27,300 acres, situated in Blocks XV and XVI, Barrier Survey District, Blocks II, III, V, VI, VII, and IX, Fitzroy Survey District, and Blocks I, II, and III, Tryphena Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by part Nimaru Block and Onewhero Block; towards the north by Kawa Block; towards the east by Section 8, being part of O.L.C. 401; towards the north generally by the northern side of a public road; towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of a public road; towards the north-west by Allotment 20, Harataonga Parish; again towards the north-east by Allotments 26 and S. 7, Harataonga Parish, Crown land in Block I, Tryphena Survey District; towards the east by Allotment 11, Harataonga Parish; towards the south-east by Allotment 17, Harataonga Parish; towards the north-east, east, south-east, and south by the north-eastern, eastern, south-eastern, and southern sides of public roads to the south-western boundary of Allotment 182, Aotea Parish; towards the east by Allotment 182 aforesaid; towards the south by Lot 2 on L.T.P. 4031, being part of Allotment 3, Aotea Parish; towards the south-west by the shores of Whangaparapara Harbour and the coast; towards the north-west by part of Allotment 2, Aotea Parish (666 acres); and towards the west generally by the shores of Port Fitzroy and Port Abercrombie and by part of O.L.C. 401 (700 acres). As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 15/9, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.-CANTERBURY CONSERVANCY
Balmoral Rural Fire District
All that area in the Canterbury Land District, Amuri and Waipara Counties, containing approximately 50,400 acres, situated in Blocks IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and XIV, Mandamus Survey District, Blocks IX, X, XIII, and XIV, Culverden Survey District, Blocks IV, V, and VI, Waitohi Survey District, and Blocks III and IV, Waipara Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by the right bank of the Pahau River; towards the south-east and south by the right bank of the Hurunui River; towards the east by Sections 35, 23, and 24, Medbury Settlement, and the western boundary of the last-mentioned section produced to the Waitohi River; towards the south-west by the left bank of the Waitohi River; towards the west generally by Rural Sections 30341, 36572, 36571, 36570, and 36566, and the south-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section produced to the Hurunui River; again towards the south-west by the right bank of the Mandamus River; thence across the Hurunui River, and by the left bank of the Mandamus River; towards the north generally by Sections 72, 69, and 68 of Square 103, Block V, Mandamus Survey District, Sections 67, 36, 35, 34, and 33 of Square 103, Block VI, Mandamus Survey District, Sections 28, 62, and again by 28, Sections 124, 142, 130, 48, and 49 of Square 103, Block VII, Mandamus Survey District, and Section 45 of Square 103, Block VIII, Mandamus Survey District; towards the north-east by the eastern side of the Balmoral-Hurunui Road; again towards the north generally by Sections 251, 252, and 248, Square 90, Block XII, Mandamus Survey District, Sections 63 and 271, Square 90, Block IX, Culverden Survey District, to and across the Christchurch-Culverden Railway Reserve; thence by the south-eastern side of that railway reserve, the northern side of the Balmoral-Culverden Road, and the north-western side of the St. Leonard's Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 128/24, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
