APPOINTMENT OF A MEMBER OF THE LOWER WAIHAO WATER-RACE
MANAGING RATEPAYERS’ COMMITTEE

IN accordance with the provisions of the Water-supply Amend-
ment Act, 1913, I hereby notify that the Waimate County
Council has duly appointed William Wellwood, Farmer, Morven,
as a member of the Lower Waihao Water-race Managing Ratepayers’
Committee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Herbert Ernest
Brown.

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership hitherto existing
between ALFRED LESLIE DOLAMORE and HALLAM LLOYD
SMITH, as Barristers and Solicitors, at Gore and Mataura, in South-
land, has been dissolved. Mr. DOLAMORE retires from practice, and
the business will be carried on by Mr. H. L. SMITH on his own account
under the style or firm of “Smith and Dolamore.”

PATEA BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other
powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Patea Borough Council
hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of
principal and interest and other charges on the loan of one thousand
eight hundred pounds (£1,800), authorized to be raised by the Patea
Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose
of restoring and extending the borough water-supply system, the
Patea Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
one halfpenny (½d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis
of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of
Patea; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring
rate during the currency of such loan and be payable annually on
the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of
such loan, being a period of twenty years or until the loan is fully
paid off.”

The common seal of the Patea Borough Council was hereto
affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution of the Council
in the presence of—

THE WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS
ACT, 1928

NOTICE is hereby given that the Education Board of the
District of Wellington requires to take the land described
in the Schedule hereto. The land is required for the purposes of
a public work—namely, for a public-school site. Notice is hereby
further given that a plan of the said land is open for inspection
at—

(1) The office of the above-mentioned Board at 65 Abel Smith
Street, Wellington.
(2) The offices of Messieurs Brandon, Ward, and Hislop,
Solicitors, 150 Featherston Street, Wellington.

All persons affected by such taking are hereby required to set
forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of
such work or to the taking of such land, and to send such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Secretary of the above-mentioned Board at his office at 65 Abel
Smith Street, Wellington.

SCHEDULE

ALL that piece of land containing three acres twenty-four and
one-half perches (3 acres 0 roods 24·5 perches), more or less, situate
in Block VI of the Port Nicholson Survey District, being part of
Section 1, Kaiwarra District, and being parts of Lots 1 and 2 on
Deposited Plan No. 3647, being part of the land comprised and
described in certificate of title, Vol. 248, folio 170 (Wellington
Registry).
