Land temporarily reserved in the Canterbury Land District

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral licence, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the seventy-first section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, it is further provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of lands acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve the land in the Canterbury Land District, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for recreation purposes.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

RESERVE 4501 (formerly part of Section 8, Mead Settlement), Block IX, Selwyn Survey District: Area, 2 acres, more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 3rd day of February, 1948.

Appointment of Director of Linen Flax Corporation of New Zealand

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Linen Flax Corporation Act, 1945, I, Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Edwin Alexander Cameron

to be a Director of the Linen Flax Corporation of New Zealand, being a member of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, for a term expiring on the eighth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight, in lieu of Frederick James Burnell, resigned.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 30th day of January, 1948.

Stuart Leigh Hatch is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 19th January, 1948, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 19th January, 1948, and is appointed Assistant Director, Army Education and Welfare Services, Headquarters, Southern Military District, Christchurch.
