IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION

NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of members of the above-named company will be held at 18 Old Military Road, Lower Hutt, on Saturday, 27th November, 1948, at 3 p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the result of the winding-up and determining the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the liquidator shall be disposed of.

WHANGAREI BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Sewer Extension and Storm-water Drainage Loan, 1947, £20,000

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Whangarei Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:

"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £20,000, authorized to be raised by the Whangarei Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of carrying out a portion of the work which is proposed for the extension of the sewerage and storm-water drainage of the borough, the said Whangarei Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0·2d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Whangarei; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being for a period of twenty-five (25) years or until the loan is paid off."

BAY OF ISLANDS ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Renewal Loan (No. 1), 1948, £27,000

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Bay of Islands Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows:

"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of twenty-seven thousand pounds (£27,000), authorized to be raised by the Bay of Islands Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of redeeming at maturity the outstanding liability in respect of a portion—namely, £40,000—of the Special Loan, 1938, £200,000, the said Bay of Islands Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of thirty-four one-hundredths (34/100ths) of one penny in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Bay of Islands Electric-power District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 3rd day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years or until the loan is fully paid off."

BAY PLENTY TROTTING CLUB (INC.)

REGULATIONS

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Bay of Plenty Trotting Club (Inc.), a club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as the said club), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to the Gate Pa Racecourse, situated in the District of Tauranga, and known as the Gate Pa Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.
  2. In these regulations the words "bookmaker," "racing club," and "race meeting" shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.
  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:-

(a) Bookmakers;
(b) Bookmakers' clerks, bookmakers' assistants, and bookmakers' agents;
(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association;
(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support;
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

The foregoing regulations of the Bay of Plenty Trotting Club (Inc.) were made and passed by the said club on the 13th October, 1948.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF NAME

I, WILLIAM FREDERICK GARLICK PREBBLE, heretofore called and known by the name of WILLIAM FREDERICK GARLICK BURNSIDE, hereby give public notice that on the 24th day of September, 1948, I formerly and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of my said surname of BURNSIDE, and then assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of PREBBLE instead of the said name of BURNSIDE.

And I give further notice that by a deed-poll dated the 24th day of September, 1948, duly executed and attested and enrolled in the office of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Christchurch on the 4th day of October, 1948, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said surname of BURNSIDE and declared that I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of PREBBLE instead of BURNSIDE, and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the name of PREBBLE absolutely.
