WAIRIOA BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Wairoa Borough Sewerage Loan, 1947, £71,400

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Wairoa Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“ That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £71,400, authorized to be raised by the Wairoa Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for providing a sewerage system for Wairoa, the said Wairoa Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 5·9 pence in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Wairoa, comprising the whole of the Borough of Wairoa; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 28th day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

RESOLUTION

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Waipa Racing Club (Incorporated) at a meeting held on the 29th day of September, 1948, at Te Awamutu, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. John Thomas Young, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. J. T. Young, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. S. S. Preston seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to:—

WAIPA RACING CLUB (INCORPORATED)

REGULATIONS

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Waipa Racing Club (Incorporated), a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as the said club), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 15th day of September, 1923, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Waipa County, situated in the district of Waikato and known as the Te Awamutu Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—

(a) Bookmakers:

(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-makers’ agents:

(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association:

(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support:

(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908:

Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Waipa Racing Club (Incorporated) were made and passed by such club on the 29th day of September, 1948, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

THE GOLDEN ARROW MINING COMPANY, LIMITED

NOTICE OF VOLUNTARY WINDING-UP RESOLUTION

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of THE GOLDEN ARROW MINING COMPANY, LIMITED (in Liquidation).

PURSUANT to section 222 of the Companies Act, 1933, notice is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened and held on the 20th day of October, 1948, the following extraordinary resolution was passed:—

“That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that, accordingly, the company be wound up voluntarily.”

Mr. WILLIAM HALL MASTERS, of Dunedin, Public Accountant, was at the extraordinary general meeting of the company held on the 20th day of October, 1948, and at a meeting of creditors of the company held on the 20th day of October, 1948, duly appointed liquidator.

All persons or firms having claims against the above-named company are required to forward proof of debt to the undersigned on or before the 22nd day of November, 1948, otherwise they may be excluded from participation in any distribution of assets.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION

AT an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Auckland Trust Company, Limited, held at 501 Smith and Smith’s Buildings, 9-11 Albert Street, Auckland, on Thursday, 7th October, 1948, at 10 a.m., the following special resolution was passed:—

“That the Auckland Trust Company, Limited, go into voluntary liquidation, and that HUGH PETER MAGUIRE, Public Accountant, of Auckland, be appointed liquidator.”

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A WATER-RACE

NOTICE is hereby given that I will apply to the Warden’s Court at Cromwell on Tuesday, the 7th day of December, 1948, for a licence for a water-race through my own freehold land commencing in the outflow creek from Lake Hayes about 300 yards below the lake, thence running west 400 yards through my own freehold.

NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of shareholders of the Tractor Logging and Roading Company, Limited (in Voluntary Liquidation), will be held at the office of the liquidator, National Buildings, Tutaneaki Street, Rotorua, on Friday, the 19th day of November, 1948, at 2 p.m., for the purpose of laying before such meeting the liquidator’s accounts, showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the assets of the company disposed of, and to offer any explanation the liquidator may wish to give, and for the purpose of passing an extraordinary resolution as to the disposal of the books, accounts, and documents of the company as required by the Companies Act, 1933.
