Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part I of the Maori Land
Amendment Act, 1936

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Maori Land
Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby
revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto,
a certain notice dated the 22nd day of December, 1938, and pub-
lished in Gazette No. 1 of the 12th day of January, 1939, at page 9,
whereby the said land was, inter alia, declared to be subject to
Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936, and such land is
hereby excluded from the Hauraki Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of land in the Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Land Court
District, containing 4 acres 0 roods 19 perches, more or less, called
or known as Kaiwakawaka B 2, and situate in Block VIII, Thames
Survey District.

Dated at Wellington, this 18th day of October, 1948.

Submarine Telephone Cable

Position: Dieffenbach Point Light. Lat., 41° 14′ S.; long.,
174° 10′ E. (approx.).

Details: A submarine telephone cable has been laid commencing
from a point 2·5 cables 198° from the above light, thence 063° 1·2
miles, thence 084° to Arapawa Island.

Masters of vessels are warned not to anchor in the vicinity of
the above cable.

Notice to Mariners No. 46 of 1948

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 19th October, 1948.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—OTAGO HARBOUR

Increased Depth in Victoria Channel and at Wharves

Position: Lat., 45° 51′ S.; long., 170° 35′ E. (approx.).

Details: As a result of dredging, the maximum draught of
vessels navigating the Victoria Channel is 24 ft. 6 in. at high water.
The berths at Victoria and Birch Street Wharves and the
berth at Rattray Street Wharf from Q to S Sheds have been dredged
to a low-water depth of 27 ft., so that vessels drawing 24 ft. 6 in.
have ample water under them at these berths.

The Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice 1948

PURSUANT to the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, the
Rationing Controller hereby gives the following direction:—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon
    Notice 1948.

  2. Butter coupons of the numbers specified in the first column
    hereunder, as contained in the 8th Series Ration Card, shall be
    available for the supply of a total of 1¾ lb. of butter (8 oz. per coupon)
    in the respective periods of four weeks specified in the second column
    hereunder:—

Finance from the Chairman of the Wairewa County Council,
is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1926.

WAIREWA COUNTY COUNCIL

In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and in
the matter of the Little River Flood Protection Loan,
1948.

I, FRANK COOP, Chairman of the Wairewa County Council, hereby
give notice that a proposal to raise a loan of £350, for the purpose
of providing the amount of the contribution of the Wairewa County
Council towards the cost of works to be carried out by the Public
Works Department to prevent flooding of parts of the Little River
Township, was submitted to a poll of ratepayers on Thursday, the
8th day of July, 1948, and that the number of votes recorded for
and against the proposal was as follows:—

Land in the Nelson Land District Acquired for a State Forest

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 13th October, 1948.

NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule
hereto has been acquired under the Forests Act, 1921–22, for
the purpose of a permanent State forest.

SCHEDULE

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON CONSERVANCY

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, Waimea County,
containing by admeasurement 410 acres 3 roods, more or less, being
part of Lot 5 on D.P. 861, situated in Blocks I and II, Motupiko
Survey District, and being Section 15, Block I, Motupiko Survey
District, and part of Sections 8 and 21, Square 35, and being the
land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 97, folio 230
(Nelson Registry). As the same is delineated on plan No. 108/66,
deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington,
and thereon bordered red.
