THE following copy of a Proclamation by His Excellency the Governor-General of the Union of South Africa, published in the Government Gazette on the 20th day of August, 1948, and relating to the recognition in all Courts in South Africa of decrees and orders made under Part I of the Matrimonial Causes (War Marriages) Act, 1947, is published for general information.

MATRIMONIAL CAUSES JURISDICTION ACT, NO. 35 OF 1945
UNDER the powers vested in me by section three of the Matrimonial Causes Jurisdiction Act, 1945 (Act No. 35 of 1945), I do hereby declare that section three of the Matrimonial Causes (War Marriages) Act, 1947 (11 Geo. VI No. 8), of New Zealand corresponds substantially to section two of the first-mentioned Act.

Plant Declared a Noxious Weed in the Otautau Town District.—(Notice No. Ag. 4550)

THE following special order made by the Otautau Town Board on the 13th day of September, 1948, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.
SPECIAL ORDER
“That the Board, in excercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that the plant mentioned in the Schedule hereto is a noxious weed within the Town District of Otautau.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to Take Lands
THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 1st day of February, 1949, as the date on which possession of the lands is required, and the 10th day of November, 1948, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land situated in Block VIII, Aria Survey District, containing by admeasurement six hundred and seventy-two (672) acres three (3) roods, more or less, being Rangitoto-Tuhua 61c Section 4, and being all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 70, folio 79 (Taranaki Registry).
Also all that parcel of land situated in Block VIII, Aria Survey District, containing by admeasurement three hundred and ninety-eight (398) acres and ten (10) perches, more or less, being Rangitoto-Tuhua 61c Section 5, and being all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 70, folio 80 (Taranaki Registry).
Also all that parcel of land situated in Block VIII, Aria Survey District, containing by admeasurement one thousand seven hundred and fifty-five (1,755) acres one (1) rood six (6) perches, more or less, being part Rangitoto-Tuhua 61c Section 3, and being all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 108, folio 226 (Taranaki Registry).

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of discharged servicemen:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown has decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 23rd day of August, 1948, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 22nd day of October, 1948, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing one hundred and sixty-eight (168) acres twenty-six decimal seven (26·7) perches, more or less, being part Lot 1, Deposit Plan 2452, part of Sections 12, 13, 16, and 17, Block XIII, Kaupokonui Survey District, and being all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 60, folio 61, excluding the land taken for railway purposes by Proclamation No. 643 (Taranaki Registry).

PURSUANT to Regulation 5 : 1 of the Lemon Marketing Regulations 1940, I hereby fix the following prices per loose bushel to be paid by the Marketing Department for lemons delivered to the Department during the undermentioned period.

The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1948
LAND-TAX PAYABLE BY COMPANIES
IN accordance with Order in Council dated 6th October, 1948, I hereby notify that land-tax on land held by companies, leviable under the above Act is payable at any office of the Land and Income Tax Department or at any money-order post-office in one sum on Wednesday, 27th October, 1948. Liability is not suspended by any objection, and tax must be paid on or before Wednesday, 17th November, 1948, to avoid the additional percentage; any overpayment will be refunded.
Demands will be issued on or about 20th October, 1948, and must be presented with all payments.
NOTE.—Land-tax on land held by individuals will not be due until January, 1948. The due date will be advertised later.

Delegation by Oil Fuel Controller to Traffic Inspectors of the Transport Department of Power to Require Information
PURSUANT to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939* and the Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations 1939†, the Oil Fuel Controller hereby delegates to every Traffic Inspector of the Transport Department power, while in possession of his Warrant of Appointment, to require any person to furnish to him, under paragraph (h) of Regulation 5 of the Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations 1939†, such information, whether by way of returns, statements, statistics, or otherwise howsoever, relating to oil fuel, or oil-fuel licences or coupons, and the acquisition, possession, use, and disposal thereof and dealing therewith, as he may deem necessary.
