The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the land described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 47 on the 28th day of August, 1947, at page 1071 :

And whereas no objection was made in the manner prescribed by the said Act :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 19th day of December, 1947, make an order determining that the land is suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman or of two or more discharged servicemen :

And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the land described in the said Schedule is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 2nd day of February, 1948, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT

Redefining Land previously described in New Zealand Gazette No. 47 of the 28th August, 1947, Page 1071

ALL that area containing three hundred and eighty (380) acres two (2) roods and thirty-two (32) perches, situated in Blocks XIII and XIV, Motuotaraia Survey District, part Blocks 32, 52, and 67A, Porangahau Crown Grant District, and being Lots 1 and 2, S.O. plan 2291, which said land is part of the land in certificates of title, Vol. 90, folio 178, and Vol. 38, folio 292 (Hawke’s Bay Registry).

As witness my hand, this 27th day of January, 1948.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Revocation of Notice of Intention to take Lands

——

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the lands described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 25 on the 15th day of May, 1947, at page 596 :

And whereas an objection was made by the owner in the manner prescribed by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the said lands :

And whereas the Minister of Lands has decided not to proceed with action to take the said lands :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of subsection (4) of section 24 of the said Act, doth hereby revoke the notice of intention to take the said lands.

SCHEDULE

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land situated in Block VIII, Maungakawa Survey District, containing by admeasurement eight hundred and forty-six (846) acres three (3) roods fifteen decimal five one (15·51) perches, more or less, being parts of Kerihone and Kahutopanoa Blocks, and being the balance of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 278, folio 46 (Auckland Registry).

Also all that parcel of land situated in Block VIII, Maungakawa Survey District, containing by admeasurement ninety-nine (99) acres three (3) roods two decimal seven (2·7) perches, more or less, being parts of Te Awapikopiko Block, and being all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 778, folio 55, limited as to parcels (Auckland Registry).

Sale of Unclaimed Property

IT is hereby notified that unclaimed property in the hands of the Police at the various police-stations will, if not claimed before Saturday, the 14th February, 1948, be sold thereafter by public auction.

Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained from the Superintendent or Inspector of Police in charge of the District.
