Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of Making and Levying General Rates
CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Rangi-
taiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, do hereby
make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the
district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet
maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1948, to 31st March,
1949, as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on 30th
day of August, 1948, together with the special rates already made
and levied.
The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the
office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's Office,
Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the
Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all
times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public
business.
SCHEDULE
CLASS A.-On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A
by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of the Rangitaiki
Land Drainage Act, 1910, fivepence and thirty-one one-
hundredths of a penny (5.31d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.-On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class B, threepence and fifty-four one-hundredths of a penny
(3.54d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.-On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class C, one penny and seventy-seven one-hundredths of a
penny (1.77d.) in the pound.
CLASS D.--On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class D, fifty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (0.59d.) in the
pound.

Poukawa Drainage Area.—Notice of Making and Levying General
Rates
CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp
Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy,
on the unimproved value of all lands within the Poukawa Drainage
Area constituted under the said Act, the general rates described
in the Schedule hereto, such rates being for the purpose of covering
for the period from 1st day of April, 1948, to 31st day of March,
1949, the cost of administration of the said Act, including the
maintenance of works constructed under that Act in the said area,
and I direct that the said rates (together with the annually recurring
special rates already made and levied) will be payable in one sum
on 30th day of August, 1948, to the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage
Engineer's Office, Government Buildings, Customs Street West,
Auckland.
The rate-book is open for inspection at the office of the Collector
of Rates, and a copy of the same is available for inspection at the
office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Post Office Building,
Napier, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction
of public business.
SCHEDULE
CLASS A.-On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the person appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, ninepence and
ninety-four one-hundredths of a penny (9.94d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.-On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B,
one penny and sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny (1.66d.)
in the pound.
CLASS C.-On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C,
thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (0.33d.) in the pound.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences under Part
III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
N. Doubroff, 318 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland,
has applied for a licence to manufacture children's footwear, sizes
3-6, 7-10, and 11-1.
Paget Shoes, Ltd., P.O. Box 1717, Auckland, has applied
for an extension of its existing licence so as to permit the manu-
facture of women's shoes by the cemented process.
R. D. Swinton and E. R. Roberts, Victoria Street, Hawera,
have applied for an extension of their existing licence so as to
permit the manufacture of children's "back-in" sandals, sizes
3-9, by the riveted process.
Fruit-canning Industry
Brown Barrett (Picton), Ltd., P.O. Box 55, Picton, has applied
for an extension of its existing licence so as to permit the canning
of crayfish.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
Messrs. H. R. and A. H. Hunt, Bridge Street, Bulls, has
applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be
installed on proposed garage premises at High Street, Bulls.
R. R. Moore (trading as Moore Motors), Kopu, Thames Valley,
has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to
be installed outside garage premises at Kopu, Thames Valley.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry
on these applications should, not later than 2nd September, 1948,
submit any written evidence and representations they may desire
to tender. All communications should be addressed to Acting-
Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
