IT is notified for general information that His Excellency the
Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Walter James Hope-Robertson, M.B., Ch.B. (Univ. N.Z.),
1923, F.R.C.S. (Edin.), D.O.M.S. (Lond.), D.L.O. (Lond.),
F.R.A.C.S.,
to be a member of the Opticians Board in terms of the Opticians
Act, 1928, the appointment to date from the 1st August, 1948.

pleased to approve of the retention of the title of "Honourable"
by Mr. Patrick Charles Webb and Mr. Benjamin Roberts, who
have served for more than three years as members of the Executive
Council of New Zealand.

disbandment of the undermentioned Defence Rifle Clubs:—
Bay of Islands Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Opua,
Bay of Islands.
Opotiki Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Opotiki.
Whakatane Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Whaka-
tane.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
In terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940;
the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the person
named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a Testing Officer
under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1
of the said Schedule.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of Making and Levying General
Rates
CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the
Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make
and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia
Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area consti-
tuted under the said Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule
hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision
of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District
the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such
respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs
for the period from 1st April, 1948, to 31st March, 1949.
The said rates, together with the annually recurring special
rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on 30th
August, 1948, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage
Engineer’s Office, Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings,
Customs Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will
be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available
for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at
Kaitaia.
FIRST SCHEDULE
TOWN SUBDIVISION
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town
District, ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0·97d.) in
the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
RURAL SUBDIVISION
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen pence
and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18·53d.) in the
pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class B, sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny
(6·49d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny
(2·78d.) in the pound.

Waihi Drainage Area.—Notice of Making and Levying General
Rates
CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp
Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy,
on the unimproved value of all land within the Pukehina Subdivision
of the Waihi Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the
general rates described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the
unimproved value of all land included in the Central Subdivision
the general rate described in the Second Schedule hereto, and on
the unimproved value of all land in the Kaikokopu Subdivision the
general rates described in the Third Schedule hereto, such respective
rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the
period 1st April, 1948, to 31st March, 1949.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on 30th
August, 1948, together with the amount of the special rates already
made and levied, to the Collector of Rates, Room 15, First Floor,
Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland.
The rate-book will be open for inspection at the office of the
Collector of Rates, and a copy of the same will be available for
inspection at the office of Mr. H. W. Earp, Clerk, Kaituna River
Board, Te Puke, at all times at which those offices are open for
the transaction of public business.
FIRST SCHEDULE
PUKEHINA SUBDIVISION
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, twopence and
forty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2·48d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, one penny and one-tenth of a penny (1·10d.) in the
pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
CENTRAL SUBDIVISION
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3
of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, sevenpence
and eighty-one one-hundredths of a penny (7·81d.) in the pound.
THIRD SCHEDULE
KAIKOKOPU SUBDIVISION
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A
by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of
the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, sevenpence and
thirty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (7·38d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class B, fivepence and seventy-four one-hundredths of a penny
(5·74d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as
Class C, threepence and twenty-eight one-hundredths of a
penny (3·28d.) in the pound.
