Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying
Rates
CLARENCE FARRINGDON SKINNER, Minister of Lands,
I., in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Hauraki
Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy, on the unimproved value
of all lands within the district constituted under the said Act, the
general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period from lst
April, 1948, to 3lst March, 1949, as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on 26th
July, 1948.
The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office
of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's Office, Room 15,
Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy
of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer,
at Kerepehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the
transaction of public business.
SCHEDULE
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A
by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, sevenpence
and fifty-seven one-hundredths (7·57d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class B, fourpence and thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny
(4·33d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as
Class C, one penny and eight one-hundredths of a penny (1·08d.)
in the pound.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice
declaring Lands taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement-
ment and Land Sales Act 1943, notice was given of the
intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said
Act the lands described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of the
said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11 on the
26th day of February, 1948, at page 225:
And whereas no objection was made in the manner prescribed
by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the said lands:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 14th day of
April, 1948, make an order determining that the said lands are
farm lands suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged
serviceman or of two or more discharged servicemen:
And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within
the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time
allowed by the Court;
And whereas the owner has agreed to an amended vesting date:
And whereas the said lands are not the lands of any serviceman
who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His
Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of
section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the lands des-
cribed in the said Schedule are taken for the settlement of discharged
servicemen, and hereby specifies the 23rd day of July, 1948, as the
date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His
Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land containing fifty-seven (57) acres and thirty-
eight (38) perches, more or less, being Lot 8, Deposited Plan 3996,
being part of Rural Sections 26852 and 34324, situated in Block V,
Corwar Survey District, and being part of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. 424, folio 280 (Canterbury Registry).
Also all that parcel of land containing seventy-five (75) acres
one (1) rood and eight (8) perches, more or less, previously stated to
contain seventy (70) acres, more or less, in the Schedule to the
notice of intention to take lands published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 11 on the 26th day of February, 1948, at page 225, being
part of Lot 7, Deposited Plan 3996, being part of Rural Section 14808,
situated in Block V, Corwar Survey District, and being part of the
land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 319, folio 68 (Canterbury
Registry).
As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan recorded
in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Christchurch as S.O. 7977, and
on the plan marked L. and S. Proc. 3006, deposited in the Head
Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon
bordered orange and blue respectively.
As witness my hand, this 19th day of July, 1948.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940,
the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the persons
