Present: THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
P URSUANT to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Maori Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published in the Gazette on the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at page 735, and affecting Hauturu East B 2 Section 2A 1A and other blocks by excluding therefrom the lands described in the Schedule hereto.

Present: THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
P URSUANT to the New Zealand Geographic Board Act, 1946, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations.
REGULATIONS

  1. THESE regulations may be cited as the New Zealand Geographic Board (Remuneration and Travelling-allowance) Regulations 1948.
  2. In these regulations, unless inconsistent with the context,
    "Board" means the New Zealand Geographic Board established under the New Zealand Geographic Board Act, 1946:
    "Member" means a member of the Board who is not an officer in the service of the Crown.
  3. For every day upon which a member attends a meeting or meetings of the Board, or is engaged in transacting any business of the Board pursuant to a resolution of the Board, he shall be paid a fee of £2 12s 6d.
  4. For time spent by a member in travelling to and from any meeting of the Board, or in travelling upon any business of the Board pursuant to a resolution of the Board, he shall be paid a fee or allowance at the rate of £2 12s 6d. per day calculated to the nearest hour, provided that no fee or allowance shall be paid under this regulation in respect of any part of a day (from midnight to midnight) for which a member is entitled to a fee under the last preceding regulation.
  5. In addition to the fees and allowances payable under the foregoing provisions of these regulations there shall be paid to a member travelling-allowance and travelling-expenses in accordance with the following provisions of these regulations.
  6. The Travelling-allowance Regulations 1941 shall apply to and be deemed to be incorporated in these regulations so as to relate to the Board and its members.
  7. The subsistence allowance referred to in Regulation 4 of the Travelling-allowance Regulations 1941 shall be at the rate of £1 5s. a day.
  8. The rate of mileage-allowance referred to in Regulation 11 of the Travelling-allowance Regulations 1941 for journeys performed in a motor-vehicle shall—
    (a) Where the horse-power of the vehicle does not exceed 9½, be 5d. a mile :
    (b) Where the horse-power exceeds 9½ but does not exceed 14½, be 5¼d. a mile :
    (c) Where the horse-power exceeds 14½, be 6¼d. a mile.
  9. The actual garage expenses referred to in Regulation 11 of the Travelling-allowance Regulations 1941 shall not exceed 2s. 6d. for every night.

FREYBERG, Governor-GeneralIN pursuance of the authority conferred on me by section eighty-eight of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, I, Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby disallow the "Mangaia Ordinance, 1947, No. 11," assented to by the Resident Commissioner of Rarotonga by his deputy on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven.As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 10th day of January, 1948.P. FRASER, Minister of Island Territories.Declaring Crown Land in the North Auckland Land District to be subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925

FREYBERG, Governor-GeneralWHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as the said land) is Crown land not acquired under the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, but is adjacent to certain land acquired under the said Act, and known as the Eccleston No. 2 West Settlement and can conveniently be disposed of therewith :Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and five of the said Act, and on the recommendation of the Land Settlement Board, and after considering the report of the North Auckland District Land Board, do hereby declare the said land to be subject to the said Act, to the intent that it shall hereupon be deemed to be portion of the said Eccleston No. 2 West Settlement and may be disposed of accordingly.SCHEDULENORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICTSECTIONS 7 and 8, Block VI, Otahuhu Survey District, being formerly those portions of road closed by Proclamation published in New Zealand Gazette No. 16 of the 27th day of March, 1947, page 369 : Area, 3 roods 29.5 perches.As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 14th day of January, 1948.C.
