Varying an Order in Council prohibiting Alienation of Maori Land

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 2nd day of
June, 1948
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to section four hundred and forty-two of the Maori
Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doeth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the eleventh day
of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published
in the Gazette on the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and thirty-two, at page 761, by excluding therefrom the
land described in the Schedule hereto.

Appointing a Non-elective Member of the Rangitikei Catchment Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the twentieth day of December,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 3 of the fifteenth day of January,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight, Gerard William Sampson,
Esquire, A.M.I.C.E., District Engineer, Public Works Department,
Wanganui, was appointed a non-elective member of the Rangitikei
Catchment Board, in terms of section forty-four of the Soil
Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941;
And whereas the said Gerard William Sampson has resigned
from membership of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, and it is
considered expedient to appoint a non-elective member in lieu of
the said Gerard William Sampson:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by
section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act,
1941, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling
me in this behalf, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg,
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
cancel the appointment of the said Gerard William Sampson to be
a non-elective member of the Rangitikei Catchment Board, and
do hereby appoint
Trevor Moncrief Wright, Esquire, A.M.I.C.E., Assistant District
Engineer, Public Works Department, Wanganui,
to be a non-elective member of the Rangitikei Catchment Board
for a term commencing on the third day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and forty-eight, and terminating on the thirtieth day of
November, one thousand nine hundred and fifty.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 5th day of June, 1948.

Member of the Nurses and Midwives Board appointed

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by section four of the Nurses and Midwives Act, 1945,
I, Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
Rosellen Mary Hunter, R.N., R.Psy.N., P.G.,
as a member of the Nurses and Midwives Board under the aforesaid
Act as from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and
forty-eight.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, this 18th day of May,
1948.

REGULAR FORCE
The Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps
Lieutenant and Quartermaster G. H. Perrett to be Captain and
Quartermaster. Dated 7th April, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Corps of Signals
Lieutenant J. W. Stenberg to be temp. Captain. Dated 1st
May, 1948.
N.Z. Regiment
Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) J. Malcolm, M.B.E., to be Captain and Quartermaster.
Dated 1st October, 1944.
Captain and Quartermaster J. Malcolm, M.B.E., having reached
the normal age for retirement, is transferred from his Corps to the
Supernumerary List, N.Z. Regular Force. Dated 20th April, 1948.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Y. K. Fleming, D.S.O., to be Cap-
tain. Dated 23rd May, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Dental Corps
Captain (temp. Major) D. E. Hart relinquishes the appointment
of Principal Dental Officer, Northern Military District, and Officer
Commanding No. 1 Royal N.Z. Army Dental Corps Depot, dated
30th April, 1948, and is posted to the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, dated 29th May, 1948.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 12, dated 13th March, 1947, relative to the appointment
of Major G. B. C. Pleasants, for "Retired List" substitute "lst
Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own)."
TERRITORIAL FORCE
The Royal N.Z. Engineers
Albert Stannard Wilshere, M.Sc., A.R.Ae.S., to be 2nd Lieu-
tenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Seddon Memorial Technical
College Cadets, Area 1. Dated 24th April, 1947.
The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps
The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own)
Temp. Major F. B. Bath, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be temp. Captain, with seniority from
18th November, 1946, and is seconded to the Scots College Cadets,
Area 5. Dated 1st March, 1948.
The Wellington West Coast Regiment
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on prob.), and are
seconded to the Feilding Agricultural High School Cadets, Area 6 :-

Rodney Leonard Hughes.

The Taranaki Regiment
Bryce Gilbert Nichols to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is

Halsey Alexander William Gallagher to be 2nd Lieutenant
(on prob.), and is seconded to the Christchurch West High School
Cadets, Area 10. Dated 6th May, 1948.
The Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 33, dated
23rd May, 1946, relative to the posting to the Retired List of
Lieutenant (temp. Colonel) R. D. King, C.B.E., D.S.O., M.D.,
M.R.C.P. (Lond.), with the rank of Brigadier, is hereby cancelled.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS
Royal N.Z. Artillery
Major W. D. Corbett, E.D. is posted to the Retired List.

N.Z. Army Nursing Service
Sister H. F. Montgomery (nΓ©e Watson) is posted to the Retired

Captain J. M. Macdonald, M.B., Ch.B., The Royal N.Z. Army
Medical Corps, and is reposted to the Territorial Force with the
temporary rank of Captain, with seniority from 24th February,
1948. Dated 13th May, 1948.
OFFICER STRUCK OFF THE STRENGTH OF THE 2ND NEW ZEALAND
EXPEDITIONARY FORCE
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 21, dated 4th April, 1946, relative to Major G. B. C.
Pleasants, for "and is posted to the Retired List," substitute "and
is posted to the non-mobilized strength of the lst Battalion, The
Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own), with the
temporary rank of Major, with seniority from 31st May, 1945."

Consul-General of Yugoslavia at Sydney for New Zealand provisionally
recognized
Ministry of External Affairs,

His Excellency the Governor-General directs it to be notified

as Consul-General of Yugoslavia at Sydney for New Zealand has
been provisionally recognized.
