Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a Testing Officer under the said regulation for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the land described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 1st day of September, 1948, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 21st day of June, 1948, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land containing eighty-four (84) acres, more or less, being Rural Sections 3017 and 3018, and part Rural Section 4244, situated in Blocks IV and VIII, Leeston Survey District, and being all the land comprised in certificates of title, Vol. 364, folio 205, Vol. 364, folio 206 (both limited as to parcels), and Vol. 481, folio 238 (Canterbury Registry).

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the land described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13 on the 11th day of March, 1948, at page 280 :

And whereas no objection was made in the manner prescribed by the said Act :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 4th day of May, 1948, make an order determining that the said land is suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman or of two or more discharged servicemen :

And whereas no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :

And whereas the owner has agreed to an amended vesting-date :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the land described in the said Schedule is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 21st day of May, 1948, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area containing by admeasurement one thousand three hundred and fourteen (1,314) acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IX and X of the Motuotaraira Survey District, part Blocks 6, 7, and 8, Porangahau Crown Grant District, and 6A, Purimu Block, being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 116, folio 220, part of the land in certificates of title, Vol. 13, folio 186, and Vol. 39, folio 254, being also all the land on S.O. plan 2295 (Hawke’s Bay Registry).

Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942.—Wartime Price Index

Census and Statistics Department,
Wellington, 18th May, 1948.

IN accordance with Regulation 41 of the Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942, it is hereby notified that the wartime price index as at the 15th day of March, 1948 (on base: 15th December, 1942 = 1000), was 1103. This figure indicates that the general level of prices of commodities, &c., included in the wartime price index was 10·3 per cent. higher at 15th March, 1948, than at 15th December, 1942.

Road closed by Order of the Maori Land Court

NOTICE is hereby given that the piece of road described in the Schedule hereto has been declared closed and revested in the owners of the land found entitled thereto by an order of the Maori Land Court at Tauranga on the 22nd day of May, 1947, pursuant to sections 489 and 490 of the Maori Land Act, 1931.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of public road in the Auckland District, being portion of the road passing through or adjoining Ongaonga No. 1G No. 3 Block, situate in Block V, Opoutihi Survey District; as the same is more particularly shown on the plan lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland under S.O. 31696, and thereon coloured green.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 13th day of January, 1932, and published in Gazette No. 6 of the 21st day of the same month, at page 115, whereby the provisions of section 522 of the Maori Land Act, 1931 (now Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936), were applied to, inter alia, the said land, and such land is hereby excluded from the Te Kaha Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of land in the Waiariki Maori Land Court District, containing 46 acres 1 rood 8 perches, more or less, called or known as Matapapa 2F Section 2, and situate in Block V, Whangamarino Survey District.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licences under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Manufacture of Paua (Haliotis iris) Shell for Sale

W. H. McGrath, P.O. Box 25, Russell, Bay of Islands, has applied for a licence to manufacture paua shell for sale.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

T. F. Kennedy, Whangamata, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed outside proposed service-station premises at the corner of Port Road and Whangamata Highway, Whangamata.

Darby and Helm, Ltd., 13 St. Jude Street, Avondale, Auckland, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 13 St. Jude Street, Avondale.

Hudson and Burnham, Ltd., Queen Street, Levin, has applied for variation of the company’s licence covering one pump installed inside garage premises at Queen Street, Levin, to permit the installation of the pump outside, but screened from passing motorists, on a section adjoining the garage premises.

M. C. Porterfield, 50 Ryan Street, Linwood, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump already installed on garage premises at 38 Essex Street, Linwood, Christchurch.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 3rd June, 1948, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
