HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, relinquishment of commission, and retirement of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:-
REGULAR FORCE
ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Lieutenant and Quartermaster A. J. Holland to be temp. Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 1st April, 1948.
N.Z. REGIMENT
Major J. D. Armstrong is appointed Assistant Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 1st May, 1948.
Major J. S. Baker, M.C., from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be temp. Captain (on prob.). Dated 19th April, 1948.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS
Lieutenant and Quartermaster R. Stroud to be temp. Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 15th April, 1948.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS
Temp. Captain C. W. O'Connor, from the N.Z. Temporary Staff, is granted a short-service commission for a period of one year as from 1st April, 1948, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 13th February, 1946. Dated 1st April, 1948.
SUPERNUMERARY LIST, N.Z. REGULAR FORCE
Lieutenant-Colonel V. G. Jervis, O.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, dated 30th April, 1948, is appointed Acting Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, and Acting Second Military Member of the Army Board during the absence of Brigadier K. L. Stewart, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., and is granted the temporary rank of Colonel whilst so employed, dated 1st May, 1948.
N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE
Helen Melrose Brown is granted a short-service commission for a period of one year as from 1st March, 1948, in the rank of Sister, and is seconded to the Royal N.Z. Air Force. Dated 1st March, 1948.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF
Temp. Lieutenant J. H. W. Sheppard is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 27th April, 1948.
TERRITORIAL FORCE
THE ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant W. G. Clark relinquishes his commission on appointment to the N.Z. Regular Force in the ranks. Dated 31st March, 1948.

Owen Leigh Desmond Claridge to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), and is seconded to the Northland College Cadets, Area 3. Dated 1st April, 1948.
