Joseph Francis Croasdale, Esquire, Commercial Gardener, of Wanganui,

to be a member of the Assessment Court for the City of Wanganui, vice Albert Clifford Tucker, Esquire, resigned.

Draft New Zealand Standard Specification.—No. D. 2400 : Thermal Storage Electric Water Systems

NOTICE is hereby given that the above draft New Zealand Standard Specification is now being circulated to affected interests for consideration and comment. The closing-date fixed for such comment is the 23rd May, 1948.

All persons who may be affected by this specification once it has been declared a Standard Specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce may, at any time before the closing-date for comments, obtain, on application, free copies from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay, Wellington, so as to have an opportunity to consider the draft and to comment thereon to the Standards Council or to an appropriate committee of the Council in accordance with subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941.

Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations 1939.—Revocation of Notice prohibiting the Sale of Motor-spirits into Containers

PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations 1939*, the Oil Fuel Controller hereby revokes the notice dated the 21st day of August, 1947†, prohibiting the sale of motor-spirits otherwise than into the petrol tanks of motor-vehicles.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licences under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

Glasspole’s Hi-caps, Ltd., 42 Victoria Street, Lower Hutt, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed inside garage premises at 42 Victoria Street, Lower Hutt.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application should, not later than 8th April, 1948, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Notice to make Returns of Land under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923

EVERY person and company, whether a taxpayer or not, being the owner of land in New Zealand within the meaning of the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and regulations thereunder, is hereby required to furnish on or before the 9th April, 1948, in the prescribed form, a return of such land as at 12 noon on 31st March, 1948, where the total unimproved value, as assessed under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, exceeds £500.

In the case of companies, such return shall be delivered at or forwarded to the branch office of the Land and Income Tax Department where the company’s records are filed, and, in the case of individuals, partnerships, syndicates, and trusts, the returns shall be delivered or forwarded to the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington C. 3.

Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.

Return forms are available at any post-office or from any office of the Land and Income Tax Department.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for Selection by Ballot

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 22nd March, 1948.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run will be offered for selection on pastoral licence (term, fourteen years from 1st March, following date of selection) under Part VI of the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 10th May, 1948.

Applicants, who must be twenty-one years of age, should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 11th May, 1948, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant will be required to pay a deposit comprising broken-period rent, one half-year’s rent, licence fee (£1 1s.), and weighting for improvements.


SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

Tawera County

RUN 177, “Lochinvar,” Hawdon, Esk, Okuku, and Katrine Survey Districts: Area, 63,490 acres. Half-yearly rent, £45.

Weighted with £845 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising four huts and fifteen miles and a half of fencing, being three miles of boundary fencing and twelve miles and a half of internal fencing, some of which is in very poor order.

The Run comprises mountainous country running up to approximately 6,000 ft., bounded by Mount White Run and the Dampier and Puketeraki Ranges. It includes approximately 30,000 acres of good summer grazing, comprising tussock and native pasture country. Access is by formed road to Mount White, thence by pack track for approximately twelve miles.

Special Conditions

  1. Stock to be restricted to cattle only during the whole term of the licence.

  2. Not more than 180 cattle to be grazed during the first two years of the licence, and no grazing to be permitted during this period on the Nigger Hill and Station Hill Blocks.

  3. Rent for first two years to be £54 per annum, providing clause 2 complied with.

  4. The licence to contain a good husbandry clause, including a restriction on stocking to not more than 300 cattle after the first two years.

  5. The licensee to allow the Commissioner of Crown Lands or any person authorized by him or any officers of the Government (including Government parties charged with destroying pigs and other pests) free rights of access over any portion of the Run for the purpose of carrying out their respective duties.

Plans showing the boundaries, location, &c., of the run may be seen at the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands at Christchurch, and any further information required concerning the run and the terms of disposal may be obtained from the undersigned.

LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICES

EVIDENCE of the loss of Memorandum of Mortgage No. 276495 affecting all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 569, folio 271 (Auckland Registry), whereof HELEN ELIZABETH CHAMBERS of Auckland, Married Woman, is the mortgagor, and LEWIS JOHN CHAMBERS, of Auckland, Boot-manufacturer, is the mortgagee having been lodged with me together with an application to register a reduction of the principal sum of the said mortgage without production of the outstanding copy thereof, in terms of section 40 of the Land Transfer Act, 1915, notice is hereby given of my intention to register such reduction on the 19th day of April, 1948.

EVIDENCE of the loss of Memorandum of Lease No. 1964 affecting 8 perches, being Lot 2A, Deposited Plan 1714, being part of Section 1023 of the Town of Westport, whereof JOHN KILKENNY, LIMITED, a company duly incorporated and having its registered office at Westport, is the registered lessee, having been lodged with me together with an application for the issue of a provisional lease in lieu thereof, notice is hereby given of my intention to issue such provisional lease on the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.
