LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICES
APPLICATION having been made to me to register Transfer No. 30823 from VAWDREY ALEXANDER BROOKIE, of Wellington, Grocer, to GEORGE THOMAS SPRIGGENS, of Wanganui, Butcher, of part of Section 227, Right Bank, Wanganui River, being Lot 4 on Deposited Plan No. 2953, containing 1 rood 11.4 perches, and being part of certificate of title, Vol. 359, folio 7 (Wellington Registry), and Transfer No. 308224 from VAWDREY ALEXANDER BROOKIE, above named, to JAMES FREDERICK SPRIGGENS, of Wanganui, Yardman, of part of Section 227, Right Bank, Wanganui River, being Lot 3 on Deposited Plan No. 2953, containing 1 rood 11.4 perches, and being the balance of certificate of title, Vol. 359, folio 7 above named, and evidence having been furnished of the loss of the outstanding duplicate of the said certificate of title, I hereby give notice of my intention to dispense with the production of the said duplicate pursuant to section 40 of the Land Transfer Act, 1915, and to register the transfers on the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.

PRIVATE BILL
In Parliament : In the matter of a Private Bill intitled the Sutton Adoption Bill, 1948.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to apply to Parliament at its next ensuing session for leave to bring in a Private Bill intitled the Sutton Adoption Bill, 1948.
The objects of the Bill are as follows :-

To confer upon David Williams, commonly known as David Lennox Sutton, of Heriot, Otago, Sheep-farmer, and hereinafter referred to as David Lennox Sutton, the same rights, benefits, and privileges, and the same status, and render him liable to the same liabilities and consequences, in all respects as if an order of adoption under the Infants Act, 1908, had been made in New Zealand on the fifteenth day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty-one, in favour of Ernest Walter Sutton, of Moa Flat, Otago, Sheep-farmer, and his wife, Matilda Lennox Sutton, now deceased, in respect of the said David Lennox Sutton, an order of adoption of the State of California granted on the same date to the said Matilda Lennox Sutton with the formal consent in writing of the said Ernest Walter Sutton, entitling her to adopt the said David Lennox Sutton, having no legal validity in New Zealand, since the said Matilda Lennox Sutton and the said Ernest Walter Sutton were British subjects.

Notwithstanding anything contained in subsection two of section seventy-four of the Death Duties Act, 1921, or in section seventy-five of that Act, to require the Commissioner of Stamp Duties to refund to the said David Lennox Sutton the amount by which the succession duty paid in respect of his succession to the estate of the said Matilda Lennox Sutton exceeds the amount of succession duty that would have been payable in respect thereof if the said David Lennox Sutton had been the child of the said Matilda Lennox Sutton.

To confer upon the said David Lennox Sutton the right to the use of the name David Lennox Sutton as from the fifteenth day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty-one.
Printed copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Private Bills Office not earlier than thirty days before and not later than fourteen days after the commencement of the next ensuing session of Parliament.
The promoters of the Bill are the aforementioned Ernest Walter Sutton and the aforementioned David Lennox Sutton.

COUNTY OF MANUKAU
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
Wairoa Riding Roads and Bridges Renewal Loan, 1948, £7,300
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers it thereunto enabling, the Manukau County Council hereby resolves as follows :-
" That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of principal, interest, and other charges on a loan known as the ' Wairoa Riding Roads and Bridges Renewal Loan, 1948, £7,300,' authorized to be raised by the Manukau County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of redeeming at maturity the outstanding liability in respect of the Wairoa Riding Roads and Bridges Loan, 1937, £12,500, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-eighths of a penny (3d.) in the pound (£) on the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the Wairoa Riding of the County of Manukau ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years or until the loan is fully paid off."
We hereby certify the above to be a true and correct copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Manukau County Council held on Tuesday, the 24th day of February, 1948.
