Imposing Levy on the Owners of Coal-mines situated within the Waikato
Rescue-station Levy Area

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 18th day of
February, 1948
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section six, subsection four, of the Coal-mines
Amendment Act, 1936, it is provided that every rescue-
station established in accordance with section six of the said Act
shall be established in respect of an area to be defined by the Minister
of Mines by notice published in the Gazette:
And whereas by section six, subsection five, of the said Act,
it is provided that for the purpose of recouping the cost of the
establishment and maintenance of any such rescue-station the
Governor-General, by Order in Council, may from time to time
impose levies on the owners of coal-mines situated within the area
defined in respect of such rescue-station not exceeding in respect
of any mine for any year a levy computed at the rate of one penny
for every ton or part of a ton of marketable coal raised from the mine
during the preceding year ended on the thirty-first day of December:
And whereas the Minister of Mines, by notice appearing in
the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-second day of February,
one thousand nine hundred and forty, defined an area in respect of
which a rescue-station might be established:
And whereas the Minister of Mines has established a rescue-
station (hereinafter called the Waikato Rescue-station) in respect
of the coal-mining area defined in the said notice:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon him by the said section six, subsection
five, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby, for the purpose of
recouping the cost of the establishment and maintenance of the
Waikato Rescue-station, impose on the owners of coal-mines situated
within the area defined in the said notice in respect of each mine
within the said area a levy computed at the rate of three farthings
for every ton or part of a ton of marketable coal raised from the
mine during the year ended on the thirty-first day of December,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven.

thousand nine hundred and forty, amended the boundaries of such
area:
And whereas the Minister of Mines has established a rescue-
station (hereinafter called the Grey Rescue-station) in respect of
the coal-mining area defined in the said notices:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon him by the said section six, subsection
five, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby for the pur-
pose of recouping the cost of the establishment and maintenance
of the Grey Rescue-station, impose on the owners of coal-mines
situated within the area defined in the said notices in respect of
each mine within the said area a levy computed at the rate of three
farthings for every ton or part of a ton of marketable coal raised
from the mine during the year ended on the thirty-first day of
December, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven.

Domain Board appointed to have Control of the Murupara Domain

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 25th day of
February, 1948
Present:
THE HON. H. G. R. MASON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section
forty-four of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National
Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
revoke an Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, and published in the
Gazette of the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand nine
hundred and forty-five, appointing a Domain Board to control the
Murupara Domain, and doth hereby appoint
Meta Dykstra,
Marjorie King,
Ernest Alfred Dykstra,
Herbert Alison Collins,
John Tyndall Withers,
Wallace Sinclair Wilson, and
Hemi Turanga
to be the Murupara Domain Board, having control of the land
described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby appoint Monday,
the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty-
eight, at seven o'clock p.m., as the time when, and the Rangitahi
Schoolroom, Murupara, as the place where, the first meeting of the
Board shall be held.

SECTION 33, Block XIII, Galatea Survey District : Area, 16 acres
2 roods 23 perches, more or less.

Vesting a Reserve in the Otago Boys' and Girls' High Schools Board

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 25th day of
February, 1948
Present:
THE HON. H. G. R. MASON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has
been duly set apart as a school-site and teacher's residence
for the Otago Girls' and Boys' High Schools: And whereas, in the
opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to vest the said
reserve in the Otago Boys' and Girls' High Schools Board:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in
exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by
section 9 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks
Act, 1928, doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the
date hereof, the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become
vested in the Otago Boys' and Girls' High Schools Board, in trust,
as a school-site and teacher's residence for the Otago Girls' and
Boys' High Schools:

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 17 perches,
more or less, being Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and part of Section 5, Block
XIX, Town of Dunedin: Bounded towards the north-west by the
Town Belt, 464·63 links; towards the north-east by other part of
said Section 5 (Kaikorai Tramway), 256·13 links; towards the
south-east by London Street, 420·34 links ; and towards the south-
west by the Otago Boys' High School Reserve, 269·26 links : be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more parti-
cularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/3070, deposited
in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington,
and thereon bordered red. (S.O. plan 9636.)
