Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Otanake Survey District, for a Quarry

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a quarry—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Kuiti and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Situated in Block II, Otanake Survey District (Auckland R.D.).

In the Auckland Land District ; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 126282, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 7th day of April, 1948, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 15th day of December, 1947, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement one hundred and twelve (112) acres, more or less, being Rural Section 26697, situated in Block XI, Geraldine Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 129, folio 219 (Canterbury Registry); and also

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement one hundred and three (103) acres three (3) roods, more or less, being Lot 4 on the plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Christchurch as number 9680, being part of Rural Section 26694, situated in Block XI, Geraldine Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 427, folio 279 (Canterbury Registry).

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 3rd day of March, 1948, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 15th day of December, 1947, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman :

And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 6th day of October, 1947, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :

And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 2nd day of December, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT

All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement four hundred and forty-four (444) acres and three (3) roods, more or less, being Allotment 63 on a plan deposited in the Otago Registry under number 1951, and being Section 2 of 42, and parts of Sections 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 1 of 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, and part of closed road, Block III, Pomahaka Survey District, which said parcel of land comprises part of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 181, folio 103 (Otago Registry).

Scheme for the Control of Thames High School

Education Department,

Wellington C.1, 6th November, 1947.

IN accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and with the powers thereunder, I, Terence Henderson McCombs, Minister of Education, do hereby approve of the following amendments in the Scheme of Control for the Thames High School published in the Gazette on the 16th day of July, 1915, Vol. II, page 2448, namely :-

  1. Paragraph (9) of clause 3 is amended by-

(a) Omitting the words "signature of voter" from the form of the voting-paper prescribed therein ; and

(b) Omitting the words "This voting-paper must be signed by the voter and enclosed in a sealed envelope, bearing on the outside thereof the words 'voting-paper,'" and substituting the words : "The voting-paper must be enclosed in a sealed envelope bearing on the outside the words 'voting-paper' and on the inside of the flap of the envelope the signature of the voter."

  1. Paragraph (11) of clause 3 is amended by omitting sub-paragraph (a) thereof, and substituting the following paragraph :-

“(a) If the voter fails to place his signature on the inside of the flap of the envelope.”
