Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Oamaru and the Papakaio
Riding of the County of Waitaki

Wellington, 7th November, 1947.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal
Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of
Oamaru are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto,
the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order
in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,
dated the 20th day of August, 1947, and published in Gazette No. 47
of the 28th day of August, 1947.
And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147
of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the
Papakaio Riding of the County of Waitaki affected by the said
Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule
hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF OAMARU
ALL that area in the Otago Land District commencing at the most
northerly point of Lot 63 (Lighthouse Reserve), Block IV, Oamaru
Survey District; thence proceeding in a south-westerly direction
to the westernmost corner of the said Lot 63, Block IV aforesaid;
thence westerly, north-westerly, and north-easterly along the
north-eastern and eastern boundaries generally of Blocks IV and
II, Oamaru Survey District, to the south-western corner of Block I,
Oamaru Survey District; thence south-easterly along the northern
side of Orwell Street to a public road; across that road; thence
north-westerly along that road for a distance of 278-4 links to the
north-western corner of Allotment 1, Deeds Plan 339, lodged in
the office of the District Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence south-
easterly along a right line, a distance of 766-7 links, to the south-
eastern boundary of Allotment 34, Deeds Plan 76, lodged as
aforesaid; thence north-easterly along that boundary for a
distance of 634 links to the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid
Allotment 34; thence north-westerly along that boundary to the
southernmost corner of the land shown on the plan numbered 2456,
deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Dunedin;
thence north-easterly along the eastern boundary of the lands
shown on the plans numbered 2456, 2874, and 1630, deposited as
aforesaid, and its production for a distance of 2923.5 links; thence
north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 6,
Block I, Oamaru Survey District, for a distance of 445 links;
thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Allot-
ment 12, Deeds Plan 163, lodged in the office of the District Land
Registrar at Dunedin; thence north-westerly along the north-
eastern boundary of Allotment 12 aforesaid for a distance of
285 links; thence north-easterly along a line parallel to Nore Street
to Frome Street; thence south-easterly along Frome Street to
Nore Street, across Frome Street, and thence south-easterly along
the north-eastern side of Frome Street to Thames Highway; thence
north-easterly along Thames Highway to the north-eastern boundary
of Section 10, Block I, Oamaru Survey District; thence along a
right line across Thames Highway to the eastern side thereof, and
north-easterly along that side of Thames Highway to the northern-
most corner of Allotment 2, Deeds Plan 75, lodged in the office of
the District Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence south-easterly
along the south-western side of the right-of-way shown on the said
Deeds Plan 75 to the north-western boundary of the South Island
Main Trunk Railway Reserve; thence south-westerly along the
north-western side of the aforesaid railway reserve to Orwell Street;
thence south-easterly along the northern side of that street to the
sea-coast; thence along the sea-coast to the most northerly point
of Lot 63, Block IV, Oamaru Survey District, the point of
commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE PAPAKAIO RIDING, COUNTY OF WAITAKI
ALL that area in the Otago Land District commencing at a point
on the centre-line of the Waitaki River due north of the eastern
boundary of Block II, Awamoko Survey District; thence south-
easterly down the centre-line of the Waitaki River, being the
boundary between the Waimate and Waitaki Counties, to the
Pacific Ocean; thence south-westerly by the Pacific Ocean to the
north-eastern side of Orwell Street, Town of Oamaru; thence
north-westerly along that street to the north-western side of the
South Island Main Trunk Railway Reserve; thence north-easterly
along the north-western side of the said railway reserve to a right-
of-way shown on Deeds Plan 75, lodged in the office of the District
Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence north-westerly along the
south-western side of the said right-of-way to Thames Highway;
thence south-westerly along the south-eastern side of that road
to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 10,
Block I, Oamaru Survey District; thence along a right line across
the aforesaid Thames Highway; thence south-westerly along the
north-western side of Thames Highway to Frome Street; thence
north-westerly along the north-eastern side of Frome Street to a
point in line with the north-western side of Nore Street, across
Frome Street; thence north-westerly along Frome Street for a
distance of 225 links from Nore Street; thence south-westerly along
a line parallel to Nore Street to Lot 12, Deeds Plan 163, lodged in
the office of the District Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence south-
easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot 12;
thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the
said Lot 12; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary
of Section 6, Block I, Oamaru Survey District, for a distance of
445 links to a point in line with the north-western boundary of
Lot l on the plan numbered 3962, deposited in the office of the
District Land Registrar at Dunedin; thence south-westerly along
a right line to the western corner of Lot 21 on the plan numbered 1461,
deposited as aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the south-
western boundaries of the said Lot 21 and Tay Street; thence
south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 34, Deeds
Plan 76, lodged as aforesaid, a distance of 634 links; thence north-
westerly along a right line to the north-western corner of Lot 1,
Deeds Plan 339, lodged as aforesaid; thence south-easterly along
the north-eastern side of a public road to Orwell Street; thence
north-westerly across the aforesaid public road, and along the
north-eastern side of Orwell Street to the Oamaru Town Boundary
Road; thence south-westerly along the Oamaru Town Boundary
Road to Oamaru Creek; thence north-westerly generally up the
left bank of that creek to Block I, Papakaio Survey District;
thence westerly along the southern boundary of that block to the
western boundary of Papakaio Survey District; thence northerly
along that boundary to the southern boundary of Block IV, Awamoko
Survey District; thence westerly along that boundary to the
eastern boundary of Section 5s, Pukenui Settlement; thence along
the eastern, southern, and western boundaries of that section to
Section 4s of the aforesaid settlement; thence north-westerly
along the western boundary of the said Section 4s to a public road;
thence westerly along that road to Section 15A, Plunket Settlement;
thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern
boundaries of that section to the eastern boundary of Block V,
Awamoko Survey District; thence northerly along that boundary
and the eastern boundary of Block II, Awamoko Survey District,
to the point of commencement.
