Notice to Mariners No. 39 of 1947

PUBLICATION OF THE NEW ZEALAND NAUTICAL ALMANAC AND
TIDE-TABLES FOR THE YEAR 1948
THE New Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide-tables for 1948,
compiled at the Nautical Adviser's Office, Marine Department, will be published at Wellington about the 1st November, 1947, and afterwards may be purchased from Government Shipping Offices or the Marine Department, Wellington.
The publication contains the following information:-
Astronomical ephemeris of the sun; daily times of sunrise and sunset at Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington, with time differences for ascertaining similar times at Invercargill, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport; phases of the moon; mean places and meridian passage of stars and times of moonrise and moonset at Wellington.
Tidal predictions, giving the daily times and heights of high and low water for the ports of Auckland, Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Westport.
Time differences, by which the approximate time of high and low water may be obtained at 104 places within New Zealand.
Tidal-stream predictions, giving the approximate daily times of the flood and ebb streams making at French Pass and Tory Channel.
Magnetic declination (variation of the compass) at places throughout New Zealand for 1948, and places where abnormal variation has been experienced; list of latest dated Admiralty charts of the coast and harbours of the Dominion, &c.; list of New Zealand lighthouses, radio beacons, and fog-signals; distress signals and procedure; regulations preventing collisions at sea; New Zealand time-service for chronometer rating; standard times of the world; general harbour signals; table of coastal distances; list of Customs ports; meteorology of the New Zealand region; Pacific Ocean date-line; list of licensed adjusters of compasses and coastal pilots; ports at which compulsory pilotage is in force; system of buoyage; closing of British ports; a list of signal letters of ships registered in the Dominion; small ship radio-telephony service; useful nautical tables with the necessary explanations; and principal articles of the calendar, holidays, &c.
Information and plans relative to ports in New Zealand; important notices to mariners issued by the Admiralty and information for general use to navigators and others.
Prospective purchasers, especially those desiring a number of copies, should make early application so as to receive a supply from the first issue, as some weeks may elapse between the first and subsequent issues.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES
Lands in the Auckland Land District forfeited
Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 22nd September, 1947.
NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Town Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease
Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 7th October, 1947.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to ll o'clock a.m. on Monday, 24th November, 1947.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Tuesday, 25th November, 1947, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.-TOWN LAND
Te Kuiti Borough.--Te Kuiti Native Township
ALLOTMENT 25, Block XV : Area, 32.5 perches. Capital value, £115 ; half-yearly rent, £2 17s. 6d.
Weighted with £95 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising cottage and shed.
The section is at the corner of Queen and Tawhana Streets, Te Kuiti, and is in a good locality. It is dry and level, and power and water are available. The cottage is in poor condition, and requires extensive repairs. This offering is subject to a monthly tenancy of the cottage.
