ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 27th day of August, 1947
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
P URSUANT to the New Zealand National Airways Act, 1945,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following Order.
ORDER
- This Order may be cited as the New Zealand National Airways Corporation Extension of Powers Order 1947.
- Approval is hereby given to the Corporation having and exercising, in relation to air services between New Zealand and Fiji, points on the route to Fiji, and islands in the South Pacific Ocean beyond Fiji, the like powers as it has in relation to air services within New Zealand, subject, however, to the provisions of the Carriage by Air Act, 1940.
- Approval is hereby given to the New Zealand National Airways Corporation, with a view to facilitating the establishment, maintenance, and operation of air services between New Zealand and Fiji, and places beyond Fiji, entering into and carrying out agreements with any organizations concerned with the operation of air services whereby the Corporation agrees to provide and operate in Fiji facilities for the maintenance of aircraft belonging to those organizations.

P URSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Appointing a Non-elective Member of the Poverty Bay Catchment Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the sixteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 26 of the twenty-second day of the same month, John Samuel Strawbridge, Esquire, was appointed a non-elective member of the Poverty Bay Catchment Board, in terms of section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941:
And whereas the said John Samuel Strawbridge has resigned from membership of the said Board, and it is considered expedient to appoint another non-elective member in lieu of the said John Samuel Strawbridge:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby cancel the appointment of the said John Samuel Strawbridge to be a non-elective member of the Poverty Bay Catchment Board, and do hereby appoint Clifford Lomas Cox, Esquire, Chief Surveyor, Department of Lands and Survey, Gisborne, to be a non-elective member of the Poverty Bay Catchment Board for a term commencing on the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and terminating on the thirtieth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven.

Appointing a Non-elective Member of the Hauraki Catchment Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 6 of the sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, Arthur Dennis Mercer, Esquire, Dip. Agr. (Reading), Fields Instructor, Department of Agriculture, Thames, was appointed a non-elective member of the Hauraki Catchment Board in terms of section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941:
And whereas the said Arthur Dennis Mercer has resigned from membership of the said Board, and it is considered expedient to appoint another non-elective member in lieu of the said Arthur Dennis Mercer:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by section forty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of all other powers and authorities in anyway enabling me in this behalf, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby cancel the appointment of the said Arthur Dennis Mercer to be a non-elective member of the Hauraki Catchment Board, and do hereby appoint George Lyal Banfield, Esquire, B.Agr.Sc., Assistant Instructor in Agriculture, Department of Agriculture, Thames, to be a non-elective member of the Hauraki Catchment Board for a term commencing on the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, and terminating on the twenty-first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 26th day of August, 1947.
