western boundary of the Matawai Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence south-easterly along the boundaries of the Matawai and Te Karaka Tribal Committee Areas hereinbefore described to a point in Block XII, Ngatapa Survey District, in the middle of the Wharekopae River on the production of the south-eastern boundary of the Wharekopae Part 2 Block, shown on the plan numbered 1128, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Gisborne; thence south-westerly along that boundary and the south-eastern boundaries of Hangaroa-Matawai B No. 4 Block and B No. 1 Block, the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of a stream, and down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the Hangaroa River, and down the middle of that river to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Small Grazing-run 30; thence to and along the eastern and southern boundaries of that run to the Kawaimango Stream in Block I, Hangaroa Survey District; thence south-westerly up the middle of that stream to the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahora 2r Section 2 Block; thence northerly along that boundary and the eastern boundary of Lot 24 of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block; thence westerly along the northern boundaries of Lots 24 and 23 of that block; thence north-westerly and southerly along the north-eastern and western boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahora 2F Section 2 Block, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection with a right line between Trig. Stations Puketapu and Maungapohatu; thence north-westerly along that right line to Trig. Station Maungapohatu; thence north-easterly along a right line in the direction of Maungatapere Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Tahora Block; thence northerly along that boundary to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Small Grazing-run 89; thence north-easterly along a right line to the point of commencement.

Ngatapa Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 46, Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District; thence north-westerly, northerly, and north-easterly along the generally eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of the said Section 46, Sections 45, 44, 51, again 44, and 48, all of Block XVI aforesaid, Section 3, Block XII, Hangaroa Survey District, Section 1, part Section 5, Sections 6, 10, 8, Part 3, Part 2, and the southern boundary of Part 21, all of Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey District, and the south-eastern boundary of part Hangaroa-Matawai No. 2c Block; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of the road forming the north-western boundary of Hangaroa Village, and the production of that side to the middle of the Hangaroa River; thence down the middle of that river to a point in line with the generally northern side of the Gisborne-Waikaremoana Road; thence south-westerly along a right line to the northern side of that road; thence westerly generally along the northern side of that road to the south-eastern corner of Small Grazing-run 30, being a point on the boundary of the Mokonuiarangi Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly generally along the south-western boundary of that area and of the Te Karaka Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described to the southern corner of Subdivision 1 of Tangihanga No. 1c Block; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Okahuatiu ld 2A Block, Sections 1, 2, and 3, Section 6, Block XI, Waikohu Survey District, Sections 1, 3, and 4, Block XV, Waikohu Survey District, and continuing along the north-eastern side of the Ngatapa-Patutahi Road, to a point opposite the north-eastern corner of Section 63, Block IV, Patutahi Survey District; thence southerly to and along the eastern boundary of Sections 63 and 62 to the northern side of the Wairoa-Gisborne Main Highway; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of that highway to a point opposite the north-western corner of Section 104, Block VI, Patutahi Survey District; thence south-westerly across that highway, to and along the western side of a public road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 124, Block VI aforesaid, Section 125, Block X, Patutahi Survey District, Sections 4, 6, and 2, Block IX, Patutahi Survey District, Section 47, Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District, passing through Whakaongaonga No. 2c Block, and forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 46, Block XVI aforesaid, to the southernmost corner of that section, being the point of commencement.

Waituhi Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the southern corner of subdivision 1 of Tangihanga No. 1c Block, being a point on the boundary of the Te Karaka Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly and southerly along the south-western boundary of that area and the western boundaries of the Parihimanhi and Tarere Tribal Committee Areas hereinbefore described to a point in the middle of the Waipaoa River on the western side of the bridge on the Wairoa-Gisborne via Hangaroa Main Highway; thence along the generally northern side of that highway to the easternmost corner of the Ngatapa Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundary of that area to the southern corner of Subdivision 1 of Tangihanga No. 1c Block, being the point of commencement.

Ohako Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 46, Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Ngatapa Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly, easterly, and southerly generally along the south-eastern boundaries of that area and the southern and eastern boundaries of the Waituhi and Tarere Tribal Committee Areas hereinbefore described to the confluence of the Maraetaha River and the Waipaoa River in Block V, Turanganui Survey District; thence south-westerly up

the middle of the Maraetaha River to the north-western side of Reay Bridge near the northern corner of Tapoto Native Reserve in Block XI, Patutahi Survey District; thence southerly generally along the western side of the road, passing through that reserve forming the eastern boundaries of Lots 1 and 2 on the plans numbered 1733 and 1732 respectively, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Gisborne, passing through Lot 2, Te Rangi o Hinehau, Section 5, Block XV, Patutahi Survey District, forming the eastern boundary of the Tarewauru Block, Sections 1, 4, and 2, Block II, Nuhaka North Survey District, passing through part Section 6, Block III of that survey district, part Section 3, Block VII of that survey district, Puninga Block, Maraetaha 2c Block, Small Grazing-run 40, and forming the eastern boundaries of Section 3, Block X, Sections 10, 9, and 8, Block XI, Nuhaka North Survey District, to its intersection with a right line from Paritu on the sea-coast to the junction of the Hangaroa and Ruakituri Rivers; thence north-westerly along that line to the middle of the Mangarangiora Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to the northernmost corner of Mangapoike No. 2D Block in Block IV, Opoiti Survey District, and a right line to the north-western corner of Whakaongaonga 2c 2 Block; thence northerly along the generally eastern side of a road to the southern-most corner of Section 46, Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District, being the point of commencement.

Rongowhakaata Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the north-western side of Reay Bridge in the middle of the Maraetaha River in Block XI, Patutahi Survey District, and being a point on the boundary of the Ohako Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly generally and southerly along the south-eastern and western boundaries of the area and the Tarere Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described to the confluence of the Karaura Creek and the Waipaoa River; thence westerly up the middle of that creek, to and along the southern side of the Taurau Valley Road, and to the north-western side of Reay Bridge, being the point of commencement.

Muriwai-Bartlett Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Waipaoa River in Block IX, Turanganui Survey District; thence southerly generally to and along the sea-coast to Paritu in Block XIII, Paritu Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line in the direction of the junction of the Hangaroa and Ruakituri Rivers to the south-eastern corner of the Ohako Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence northerly, north-easterly, and south-easterly along that boundary and the boundaries of the Rongowhakaata and Tarere Tribal Committee Areas hereinbefore described to a point in the middle of the mouth of the Waipaoa River, being the point of commencement. Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Eruera Tihema Tirikatene, acting for the Native Minister, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.

SCHEDULE

RAUKAWA TRIBAL DISTRICT

Kauwhata Tribal Committee Area

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point, being the middle of the junction of public roads, abutting the south-western and north-western boundaries of Section 14, Block VIII, Te Kawaue Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the Trig. Station Mount Stewart in Block XVI, Rangitoto Survey District; thence northerly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section 112, Township of Sandon, in Block IX, Oroua Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the southern corner of Section 156, Township of Sandon, in Block VII, Oroua Survey District, along a right line to Trig. Station Marshall (B) in Block II, Apiti Survey District, along a right line to Trig. Station Burnt Knob, Block IV, Apiti Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Te Hekenga, Block III, Umutoi Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the confluence of the Oroua River with the south branch, Oroua River; thence south-westerly generally down the middle of the Oroua River to a point in line with the production of the north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on the plan numbered 2677, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence southerly along a right line to the middle of the junction of Boundary Road and Stony Creek Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of Boundary Road to Campbelltown Road; thence along the middle of Campbelltown Road to the Oroua River, and across the said river to a public road; thence north-westerly along the middle of the said road to the point of commencement.
