Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
E. R. Roberts, The Boot Hospital, Victoria Street, Hawera, has applied for an extension of his license so as to permit the manufacture of infants’ leather-soled shoes by the cemented, fair-stitched, and Veldtschoen processes, sizes 3–9, also maids’ and youths’, sizes 10–5, by the machine-sewn process.
S. Button and Son, Ltd., 46 Upper Queen Street, Auckland, has applied for an extension of its existing license to permit the manufacture of girls’ and maids’ shoes.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
G. W. Brown, 154 Victoria Street West, Auckland, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 154 Victoria Street West, Auckland.
H. G. Bennett, Huiranga, Waitara, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises at Huiranga.
R. F. Ruddenklau, Kokere, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed outside hotel premises at Kokere.
W. J. Taylor, 8 Thames Street, St. Albans, Christchurch, has applied for a license to resell motor-spirit from three pumps to be installed on proposed service-station premises at Yaldhurst, at the junction of the Main West Coast and Main North Roads.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than the 29th May, 1947, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to the Acting-Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Notice to make Returns of Income under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and Amendments
EVERY person and company, whether a taxpayer or not, having derived income during the year ended 31st March, 1947, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, or any amendment thereof, is hereby required to furnish not later than 3rd June, 1947, a return of such income.
Such returns shall be delivered at or forwarded to the Branch Office of the Land and Income Tax Department where the taxpayer’s records are filed.
Return forms are available at all post-offices or from any office of the Land and Income Tax Department. Posters showing particulars of persons liable to furnish returns are displayed at these offices. Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE
Land in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease
District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 20th May, 1947.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 10th June, 1947.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, 11th June, 1947, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection documentary evidence of their farming and financial position. Applicants are notified that the property is not considered suitable for the making of advances under the Rehabilitation Act, and that any ex-serviceman applying must clearly understand that rehabilitation assistance will not be made for the development of the property.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant will be required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, and lease fee.
NOTE.—This property is offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any material under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
