NOTE ON MENTIONS IN DESPATCHES AND KING’S COMMENDATIONS
Mention in Despatches, 1914–1919•
The Emblem of bronze oak leaves denoting a Mention in Despatches during the First World War, 1914–1919, is worn on the riband of the Victory Medal. The award of this Emblem ceased as from 10th August, 1920.
• Mention in Despatches, 1920–1939 •
The single bronze oak leaf Emblem, if granted for service in operations between the two World Wars, is worn on the riband of the appropriate General Service Medal. If a General Service Medal has not been granted, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat after any Medal ribands‡‡.
Mention in Despatches, 1939–1945
The single bronze oak leaf Emblem signifying in the armed Forces and the Merchant Navy, either a Mention in Despatches, a King’s Commendation for brave conduct, or a King’s Commendation for valuable service in the air, if granted for service in the Second World War, 1939–1945, is worn on the riband of the War Medal, 1939–1945. If the War Medal has not been granted, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat, after any Medal ribands‡‡.

The single bronze oak leaf Emblem, if granted for service in operations after the cessation of hostilities in the Second World War, is worn on the riband of the appropriate General Service Medal. If a General Service Medal has not been granted, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat after any Medal ribands‡‡.
The single bronze oak leaf Emblem is also used in the Forces to denote a King’s Commendation for brave conduct or a King’s Commendation for valuable service in the air granted since the cessation of hostilities in the Second World War.

The Emblem of silver laurel leaves granted to civilians, other than those in the Merchant Navy, to denote a King’s Commendation for brave conduct during the Second World War, 1939–1945, is worn on the riband of the Defence Medal. When the Defence Medal has not been granted or the award is for services subsequent to the war, the Emblem is worn directly on the coat after any Medal ribands‡‡.
King’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air, 1939–1945, and subsequently
The oval silver Badge granted to denote a civil King’s Commendation for valuable service in the air is worn on the coat immediately below any Medals or Medal ribands‡‡, or in civil air line uniform, on the panel of the left breast pocket.
‡‡ If there are no Medal ribands, the Emblem is worn in the position in which a single riband would be worn.

Wellington, 13th May, 1947.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Waimate and included in the Borough of Waimate.
All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alterations of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF WAIMATE AND INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF WAIMATE
ALL that area in the County of Waimate, Canterbury Land District, situated in Block XIV, Waimate Survey District, and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the boundary of Borough of Waimate, such point being at the intersection of the north-eastern side of Parsonage Road and the middle-line of Durham Street, proceeding north-easterly along the middle of Durham Street aforesaid to the middle of Bond Street; thence south-easterly along the middle of that street to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 178 on plan deposited in the Canterbury Land Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 352; thence to and by the north-western boundary of said Lot 178 and by the north-western boundaries of Lots 177, 176, 175, 174, 173, 172, 171, and 170 of said Deposit Plan No. 352, and the production of that boundary to the middle of Oxford Street; thence south-easterly along the middle of Oxford Street to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 220 on Deposit Plan No. 352; thence to and by the north-western boundary of said Lot 220 and by the north-western boundaries of Lots 219, 218, 217, 216, 215, 214, 213, and 212 of said Deposit Plan No. 352, and that boundary produced to the middle of Regent Street; thence in a south-easterly direction along the middle of that street to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 251 on Deposit Plan No. 352; thence to and by the north-western boundary of said Lot 251 and by the north-western boundaries of Lots 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 of Deposit Plan No. 138; thence in a south-easterly direction along the north-eastern boundary of said Lot 27 and that line produced to the middle of Main South Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along the middle of that road to a point on the boundary of the Borough of Waimate; thence north-westerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Takahue Survey District, for Road
—
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kaitaia and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

“PURSUANT to powers conferred by section 4 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Waipawa County Council hereby resolves, by way of special order, that the undermentioned noxious weeds (included in the Second Schedule of the said Act) shall be noxious weeds within the County of Waipawa:—
“Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
“Nodding thistle (Carduus nutans).”
