Special Order made by the Hutt County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 1st May, 1947.

THE following special order made by the Hutt County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, in so far as publication is required by that Act. Pursuant to section 100 of the aforesaid Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 1st day of October, 1947, as the date from which the redivision of the county into nine ridings as set out in the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23, 69 (b), and 100 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Hutt County Council hereby resolves, by way of special order, as follows:—

“1. The present division of the County of Hutt into eight ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into nine ridings by subdividing the Wainui-o-mata Riding into two ridings, to be known as Eastern Bays Riding and Wainui-o-mata Riding respectively. The said new ridings of Eastern Bays and Wainui-o-mata are respectively described in the Schedule hereunder.

“2. The said Hutt County Council shall consist of nine members, who shall be elected as follows:—

“The electors of Eastern Bays Riding, Epuni Riding, Heretaunga Riding, Horokiwi Riding, Mangaroa Riding, Taupo Riding, Wainui-o-mata Riding, Kapiti Riding, and Whareroa Riding shall each elect one member.

“3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on a date to be fixed in that behalf by the Honourable the Minister of Internal Affairs and notified in the Gazette.

“SCHEDULE

“Proposed Eastern Bays Riding of the County of Hutt

“ALL that portion of the County of Hutt, bounded commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt with the south-eastern side of Gracefield Road; thence easterly along the boundary of City of Lower Hutt to its intersection with Wainui Hill Road; thence southerly generally along the western side of Wainui Hill Road to the easternmost corner of Lot 3 on Deposited Plan 12030; thence along the southern boundary of Lot 3 aforesaid, to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 4 on Deposited Plan 12030, the eastern and southern boundaries of Lot 47 on Deposited Plan 11205 to the north-eastern corner of Lot 81B on Deposited Plan 1541; thence along the eastern boundaries of Lots 81B and 82B on Deposited Plan 1541 to the northern boundary of Section 29, Harbour District; thence along the northern and eastern boundaries of Section 29 aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of Sections 30, 32, and 34, Harbour District, to the northern boundary of the Borough of Eastbourne, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1935, page 1742; thence along the northern boundary of the Borough of Eastbourne to the mean high-water mark of Port Nicholson; thence northerly along the mean high-water mark to the southern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt; and thence easterly along the southern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt to the point of commencement.

“Proposed Wainui-o-mata Riding of the County of Hutt

“ALL that portion of the County of Hutt, bounded commencing at the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of the Wellington Waterworks Reserve in Block IX, Rimutaka Survey District, with the eastern boundary of the County of Hutt, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1945, page 389; thence southerly, westerly, and northerly along the boundaries of County of Hutt to the south-eastern corner of Section 34, Harbour District; thence along the eastern boundary of Eastern Bays Riding above described, to and along the eastern boundary of the City of Lower Hutt, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1945, page 387, to its intersection with the southern boundary of Section 231, Hutt District; thence easterly generally along the southern boundary of Sections 231 and 232, Hutt District, the western and southern boundaries of Section 8, Block XV, Belmont Survey District, and the southern boundaries of Sections 7 and 6, Block VIII, Rimutaka Survey District, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; and thence along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of the Wellington Waterworks Reserve to its intersection with the county boundary, the point of commencement.”

The foregoing special order was duly passed at a special meeting of the Hutt County Council held on 12th March, 1947, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of Council held on 16th day of April, 1947. The said special order was duly made in accordance with the provisions of section 99 of the Counties Act, 1920.

The Masterton Licensing Emergency Regulations 1947.—Notice fixing Date of Polls

PURSUANT to the Masterton Licensing Emergency Regulations 1947, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, the Minister of Justice, do hereby fix Wednesday, the 28th day of May, 1947, to be the date that a poll of the electors of those portions of the Masterton No-license Licensing District set out in the Schedule hereto shall be taken on the proposal that trade in alcoholic liquors in the said portions of the district should be conducted by trusts representative of the local inhabitants.

Akitio portion of the district.
Eketahuna portion of the district.
Southern portion of the district.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice of Intention to take Land

THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 26th day of February, 1948, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 6th day of June, 1947, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

ALL that parcel of land containing fifteen (15) acres two (2) roods, more or less, situated in Block VII, Patutahi Survey District, being Section 134, Patutahi Rural, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 23, folio 295 (Gisborne Registry).

Also all that parcel of land containing two hundred and sixty-six (266) acres one (1) rood two (2) perches, more or less, situated in Block VII, Patutahi Survey District, being part of Section 92, Patutahi Rural, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 24, folio 12 (Gisborne Registry).

Also all that parcel of land containing one thousand nine hundred and eighty-one (1,981) acres one (1) rood thirty-seven (37) perches, more or less, situated in Block VII, Patutahi Survey District, being Section 97 and part of Section 99, Patutahi Rural, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 28, folio 186 (Gisborne Registry).

Also all that parcel of land containing one thousand and five (1,005) acres, more or less, situated in Blocks VI and X, Patutahi Survey District, being Section 101, Patutahi Rural, and being all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 36, folio 209 (Gisborne Registry).

Also all that parcel of land containing one thousand five hundred and fifty-nine (1,559) acres, more or less, being part of Section 6, Block IX, Patutahi Survey District, and being all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 45, folio 208 (Gisborne Registry).

SPECIAL ORDER

“In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Council of the County of Geraldine hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that Hemlock (Conium maculatum), being a plant mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act, is a noxious weed within the County of Geraldine.”
