Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on the Foxton, Levin, and Otaki Fire Boards

Wellington, 14th January, 1947.
PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules thereunder, the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act doth appoint Monday, the 27th January, 1947, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Foxton, Levin, and Otaki Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the death of Mr. F. Desmond.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Excluding Portion of a Street from Limitation as to Speed in the Borough of Mount Maunganui and revoking an Earlier Warrant relating thereto
IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport doth hereby exclude the street described in the Schedule hereto from the limitation as to speed for motor-vehicles imposed by the said section, and doth hereby revoke the warrant dated the 3rd day of March, 1938,* relating to limitation of speed for motor-vehicles.

ALL that portion of the Papamoa - Mount Maunganui Main Highway No. 411, situated within Mount Maunganui Borough, from the junction of the said main highway with Tay Street to the southern boundary of Mount Maunganui Borough as at present constituted.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.-Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 23rd day of October, 1946, make an order determining the basic value of the land and determining that the land is farm land suitable for facilitating the settlement of Frederick A. Russ:
And whereas an appeal has been lodged against such order :
And whereas such appeal has been allowed in part by deleting "Frederick A. Russ" from such order, and by substituting "a discharged serviceman" therefor :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 17th day of February, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land containing thirty-four (34) acres one (1) rood and twenty-seven (27) perches, more or less, being Lot 15 on plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 3473, being part Rural Sections 4450, 11275, and 18198, situated in Block XV of the Pigeon Bay Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 317, folio 286 (Canterbury Registry), together with and subject to certain water and easement rights created in and by Memoranda of Transfer Nos. 113662 and 124098.

And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of discharged servicemen :
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 5th day of September, 1946, make an order determining the basic value of the land :
And whereas an appeal was lodged by the owner against such order :
And whereas the Land Sales Court has allowed such appeal in part by fixing a' higher basic value :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 17th day of March, 1947, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
ALL those parcels of land containing together twelve thousand and fifty-one (12,051) acres three (3) roods and twenty-three (23) perches, more or less, situated in the Wart Hill and Benger Survey Districts, being runs numbered 594 and 595, Blocks IX, X, XIII, XIV, and part of Section 1, Block I, on the public maps of the said Wart Hill District, and parts of Sections 1 and 3, Block VI, on the public maps of the said Benger District, part of the said parcel of land being Allotment 16 on plan deposited in the Lands Registry Office at Dunedin as No. 1809, and part being part of Allotment 27 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 1780, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 196, folio 5 (Otago Registry).

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.-Notice Intention to take Land
THE Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 24 of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, hereby gives notice of his intention to take the lands described in the Schedule hereto under Part II of the said Act, and specifies the 28th day of March, 1947, as the date on which possession of the land is required, and the 17th day of February, 1947, as the date on or before which objections may be made under section 25 of the said Act.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that parcel of land containing six hundred and fifty-nine (659) acres one (1) rood and five (5) perches, more or less, being Lot 3 and part Lot 2 on plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 3389, and being part of Rural Section 15327, situated in Blocks IX and X, Corwar Survey District, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 444, folio 189 (Canterbury Registry).

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Tawa Extension No. 33, affecting part Section 41, Porirua Registration District, situated in Block VII, Belmont Survey District, Wellington Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the roads shown as Kiwi Crescent, Tainui Terrace, and Chester Road thereon should be of the width of 66 ft. :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of the roads shown as Kiwi Crescent, Tainui Terrace, and Chester Road of a width of not less than 50 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such roads.
