Education Department.—Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by section 6, sub-section (1), of the Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, Minister of Education, do hereby notify that the premises set forth in the Schedule below have been registered as from the date hereof as Children’s Homes for the purposes of the said Act.

Agreement for Grant of the Right to use Surplus Water in favour of Harry Sedcole Malcolm, of Auckland, Insurance-manager, and Edward Alexander Malcolm, of Kirikopuni, Farmer, over Land in Block VII, Maungaru Survey District, assented to

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 31st day of October, 1945, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70 of the 8th day of November, 1945, at page 1393, areas of land totalling 14 acres 1 rood 37·1 perches, being parts Maungaru Block on D.P. 22902, situated in Block VII, Maungaru Survey District, were taken for a quarry :

And whereas at the date such Proclamation took effect Harry Sedcole Malcolm, of Auckland, Insurance-manager, and Edward Alexander Malcolm, of Kirikopuni, Farmer, were the registered proprietors of the said land :

And whereas the said Harry Sedcole Malcolm and Edward Alexander Malcolm are entitled to compensation for their freehold interests in the said area of 14 acres 1 rood 37·1 perches :

And whereas by an agreement dated the 5th day of December, 1946, the Minister of Works agreed to grant to the said Harry Sedcole Malcolm and Edward Alexander Malcolm the right to use surplus water from a water bore on the said land, in part satisfaction of the compensation aforesaid, and to provide a sum of money in satisfaction of the residue of the said compensation :

And whereas the said Harry Sedcole Malcolm and Edward Alexander Malcolm have agreed to accept such grant of the right to use surplus water and sum of money in satisfaction of the said compensation :

Now, therefore, the Minister of Works hereby gives notice, in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.
