Appointment of Members of Board of Health under the Health Act, 1920

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Health Act, 1920, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

John William Andrews, Esquire, J.P.,
John Wood, Esquire, C.M.G., M.I.C.E.

to be members of the Board of Health for a period of three years.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 12th day of March, 1947.

Members appointed to Rotoiti Scenic Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the tenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, and published in the Gazette of the sixteenth day of that month, the control of certain reserves in the Nelson Land District, known as the Rotoiti Scenic Reserve, was vested in certain persons therein named, who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the Rotoiti Scenic Board, in pursuance of section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908: And whereas it is desirable that Harold James Brough and John Garden Ingram should be appointed members of the said Board in place of William Alfred Andrews, deceased, and Frederick Giles Gibbs, resigned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said

John Garden Ingram

to be members of the Rotoiti Scenic Board constituted by the Warrant dated the tenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, hereinbefore referred to, in place of the said William Alfred Andrews and Frederick Giles Gibbs.

Members appointed to New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the eighteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-fifth day of that month, the control of certain scenic and historic reserves in the Taranaki Land District was vested in certain persons therein named, who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board, in pursuance of section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908: And whereas it is desirable that Thomas Montague Avery should be appointed a member of the said Board in place of William Henry Skinner, deceased:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said

Thomas Montague Avery

to be a member of the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board constituted by the Warrant dated the eighteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, hereinbefore referred to, in place of the said William Henry Skinner, deceased; and, in pursuance of the said section thirteen, doth hereby appoint

Michael Neville and
Leonard William Delph

as additional members of the Board.

Vesting the Control of an Historic Reserve in the Otago University Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the Mapoutahi Pa Historic Reserve, described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), in the Otago University Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:β€”

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.


SCHEDULE

MAPOUTAHI PA HISTORIC RESERVE

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, being Section 57A and closed road, Section 1340R, Block IV, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-west generally by the Pacific Ocean, 1500 links; towards the north-east, east, and south generally by Purakanui Bay, 2200 links; and towards the south-west by a public road, 250 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/581, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor General, this 20th day of March, 1947.

Land permanently reserved in the Wellington Land District

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one month, but not later than six months, after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was by the Warrant dated the twenty-eighth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-six, and published in the Gazette of the fifth day of December of that year, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for recreation purposes.

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto for recreation purposes for which purpose the said land was so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 235, Town of Alfredton, Block XII, Mangaone Survey District: Area, 2 acres and 30 perches, more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 17th day of February, 1947.
