At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 19th day of
March, 1947

Present:

THE HON. D. G. SULLIVAN PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS in pursuance of section one hundred and thirty-
seven of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, a petition
was presented to the Governor-General praying that certain areas
be excluded from the County of Southland and included in the City
of Invercargill:

And whereas a Commission appointed under the said section
held inquiries and recommended that portions of the said areas be
excluded from the County of Southland and included in the City
of Invercargill:

And whereas it is deemed expedient to make the alterations of
boundaries recommended by the said Commission:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,
and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby declare that as
on and from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and
forty-seven, the areas described in the Schedule hereto shall be
excluded from the County of Southland and included in the City of
Invercargill.

SCHEDULE

AREAS EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF SOUTHLAND AND INCLUDED
IN THE CITY OF INVERCARGILL

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the
western boundary of Section 26, Block I, Invercargill Hundred,
300 links north of Albert Street; thence in an easterly direction
by a right line parallel to Albert Street to the eastern side of Elles
Road; thence in a southerly direction along the eastern side of
Elles Road to a point 300 links north of Layard Street; thence
in an easterly direction by a right line parallel to Layard Street to
the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3802, Invercargill Land Registry
Office; thence in a northerly and easterly direction along the
western and northern boundaries of the said Lot 1, D.P. 3802, to
the eastern boundary of Section 36, Block I, Invercargill Hundred;
thence in a northerly direction along the said eastern side of Section
36 to the Waihopai River; thence in a south-easterly direction
generally along the left bank of the Waihopai River to the production
of a line 300 links east of and parallel to Salford Street; thence
in a southerly direction by the aforesaid line to a point 300 links
north of Layard Street; thence in an easterly direction along a

course Road; thence across Racecourse Road to the southernmost

north-easterly direction along the south-eastern boundary of the
said Section 2 for a distance of 300 links; thence by a right line
parallel to Racecourse Road to Findlay Road; thence in a south-
westcrly direction along the northern side of Findlay Road to Race-
course Road; thence across Racecourse Road to the northernmost
corner of Section 7, Block I, Invercargill Hundred; thence in a
south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary of the
said Section 7 and Section 6, Block I, Invercargill Hundred, to the
boundary of the City of Invercargill, as described in New Zealand
Gazette, 1938, page 487; thence in a northerly, easterly, again
northerly, again easterly, and again northerly direction by the said
boundary of the City of Invercargill to the point of commencement.

Also all that area bounded by a line commencing at the western-
most corner of Lot 1, D.P. 3718, Invercargill Land Registry Office;
thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary
of the said Lot 1, D.P. 3718, and the south-western boundary of
Section 6, Block I, Invercargill Hundred, to the Invercargill-
Dunedin State Highway; thence across the Invercargill-Dunedin
State Highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary
of Lot 10, D.P. 3876, Invercargill Land Registry Office; thence
in a south-easterly direction to and along the said north-eastern
boundary of Lot 10 to the easternmost corner thereof; thence
in a south-westerly direction along the south-eastern boundary of
Lots 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4, D.P. 3876 aforesaid, to the south-western
boundary of Section 12, Block I, Invercargill Hundred; thence in
a south-easterly direction along the said south-western boundary
of Section 12 to Oteramika Road; thence by a right line due south
across Oteramika Road to a point 300 links south of Oteramika
Road; thence in a westerly direction by a right line parallel to
Oteramika Road to the boundary of the City of Invercargill, as
described in New Zealand Gazette, 1938, page 487; thence in a
northerly, easterly, north-westerly, north-easterly, again north-
westcrly, again north-easterly, again north-westerly, and again
easterly direction by the said boundary of the City of Invercargill
to the point of commencement.
