Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal Committee Areas under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Peter Fraser, Native Minister, do hereby declare the parts of the several tribal districts described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.

SCHEDULE

WESTERN KAIKOHE TRIBAL DISTRICT Omapere Tribal Committee Area ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station A1, Pukewharariki, in Block XIII, Omapere Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Western Kaikohe Tribal District; thence north-easterly, easterly, and southerly along that boundary to Trig. Station C, Putahi, in Block XI, Omapere Survey District ; thence westerly along a right line to Trig. Station A1, Pukewharariki, the point of commencement.

Kaikohe No. 1 Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station A1, Pukewharariki, in Block XIII, Omapere Survey District; thence easterly along part of the southern boundary of the Omapere Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, to the western side of the Kaikohe-Okaihau Railway Reserve; thence southerly generally along the western side of that railway reserve to the south-western boundary of the Kaikohe Town District; thence south-easterly generally along that boundary, the eastern boundary of Tuhuna No. 6 Block, and its production across a road to the northern boundary of Tuhuna Part No. 7c Block, the northern boundary of that block, Tuhuna No. 7D Block, and part No. 7c Block, the north-western boundary of Waikotiihe Block, the south-western and southern boundaries of Tuhuna No. 11 Block, the crossing of the Taheke-Ohaeawai Road, the north-eastern boundaries of Tuhuna No. 15 Block, the north-western boundary of Tuhuna No. 16 Block, the Waikaka Stream, the northern boundaries of Rangihamama No. 1 and C Blocks, a right line to the north-western corner of Kohewhata part No. 69 Bloek, the north-eastern boundary of that part, right lines intersecting Kohewhata No. 47 Block, 664·7, 912·3, and 402·5 links, the south-eastern boundaries of the last-mentioned block, to the south-western side of the Kaikohe-Otiria Railway Reserve; thence southerly generally along the western side of that railway reserve to the south-eastern corner of Otuhi No. 2A Block; thence westerly along a right line to Trig. Station C1, Whakaruangangana, and a right line to the intersection of the western boundary of Block II, Punakitere Survey District, and the northern boundary of the Pahekeheke Block; thence northerly along the western boundary of Block II aforesaid, and its production to a point due east of Trig. Station A1, Pukewharariki; thence westerly along a right line to that trig. station, the point of commencement.

Kaikohe No. 2 Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station C, Putahi, in Block XI, Omapere Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the junction of the Ohaeawai and Ngawha Springs Roads, in Block XVI, Omapere Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the confluence of the Mangamutu Stream and the Wairoro River; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of the Kaikohe Town District, being the Wairoro River, the northern and part western boundaries generally of the Kohewhata No. 6 Block, to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Kohewhata No. 47 Block, the production of that boundary across a public road, and that boundary to the western side of the Kaikohe-Otiria Railway Reserve, being a point on the boundary of the Kaikohe No. 1 Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-westerly generally along that boundary to the southern boundary of the Omapere Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence easterly along that boundary to Trig. Station C, Putahi, the point of commencement.

Ngawha Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station C, Putahi, in Block XI, Omapere Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the junction of the Waikaramu and Old Bay Roads with the Kaitaia-Whangarei Road, in Block IX, Kawakawa Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station K, in Block IX aforesaid; thence south-westerly along a right line to the northernmost corner of Motatau No. 3s Block; thence north-westerly along a right line to the junction of the Ohaeawai and Ngawha Springs Roads, in Block XVI, Omapere Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station C, Putahi, the point of commencement.

Kohewhata Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at the northern-most corner of Motatau No. 3s Block; thence south-westerly along a right line to the westernmost corner of Section 13, Block IV, Punakitere Survey District, being a point on the northern side of the Kaikohe-Otiria Railway Reserve; thence westerly generally along the said northern side of that railway reserve to the Wairoro Stream; thence southerly generally down that stream and the Punakitere River to the Tautoro Bridge on the Kaikohe-Mangakahia Road; thence northerly generally along that road to the south-eastern side of the Kaikohe-Otiria Railway Reserve; thence southerly, westerly, and northerly along the generally southern and western side of that railway reserve to the south-eastern corner of Otuhi No. 2A Block, being a point on the boundary of the Kaikohe No. 1 Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of that area to the south-eastern boundary of the Kaikohe No. 2 Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the junction of the Ohaeawai and Ngawha Springs Roads; thence south-easterly along a right line to the northern-most corner of Motatau No. 3s Block, the point of commencement.

Te Iringa Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at the point where the eastern boundary of Block I, Punakitere Survey District, intersects the northern boundary of the Pahekeheke Block; thence easterly generally along the southern boundaries of the Kaikohe No. 1 Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, and the western and southern boundaries of the Kohewhata Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, to the Tautoro Bridge on the Kaikohe-Mangakahia Road; thence westerly generally down the middle of the Punakitere River and up the middle of the Mangatoa Stream to the eastern boundary of Block I, Punakitere Survey District; thence northerly along that boundary to the northern boundary of the Pahekeheke Block, the point of commencement.

Tautoro Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at the western-most corner of Section 13, Block IV, Punakitere Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the westernmost corner of Motatau No. 1B No. 5B No. 3 Block, in Block VI, Motatau Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station XXVI, Ngatitara, in Block XII, Punakitere Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station 15, Maungakawakawa, and a right line to the Mataraua Bridge on the Waimatenui Road, being a point on the southern boundary of the Te Iringa Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly generally along that boundary and the south-eastern boundary of the Kohewhata Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, to the westernmost corner of Section 13, Block IV, Punakitere Survey District, the point of commencement.

Mataraua Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at the Mataraua Bridge on the Waimatenui Road; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of the Tautoro Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, to Trig. Station XXVI, Ngatitara; thence westerly along a right line to Trig. Station N, Kawaka, in Block XI, Punakitere Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to a point in the middle of the Mangakahia River on the production of the western boundary of Section 7, Block XIV, Punakitere Survey District, and being a point on the boundary of the Western Kaikohe Tribal District; thence westerly, northerly, easterly, and again northerly generally along that boundary to the middle of the Punakitere River; thence easterly generally up the middle of that river to the Mataraua Bridge, the point of commencement.

Awarua Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station XXVI, Ngatitara, being a point on the boundary of the Western Kaikohe Tribal District; thence south-easterly and westerly generally along that boundary to a point in the middle of the Mangakahia River on the production of the western boundary of Section 7, Block XIV, Punakitere Survey District, and being a point on the boundary of the Mataraua Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly and easterly along that boundary to Trig. Station XXVI, Ngatitara, the point of commencement.

EASTERN KAIKOHE TRIBAL DISTRICT Te Ahuahu Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station H, in Block IV, Omapere Survey District; thence southerly generally along a right line to Trig. Station C, Putahi, in Block XI, Omapere Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the junction of the Waikaramu and Old Bay Roads with the Kaitaia-Whangarei Road; thence north-westerly along a right line to the eastern corner of Pakonga No. 2P Block in Block VIII, Omapere Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station H, the point of commencement.

Waimate North Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station H, in Block IV, Omapere Survey District; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Te Ahuahu Tribal Committee Area, hereinbefore described, to the junction of the Waikaramu and Old Bay Roads with the Kaitaia-Whangarei Road; thence northerly generally along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 13, Block IV, Omapere Survey District; thence westerly generally along a right line to Trig. Station H, the point of commencement.

Oromahoe Tribal Committee Area All that area bounded by a line commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section 13, Block IV, Omapere Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the south-western corner of Wahi Tapu, in Block VI, Kawakawa Survey District, a right line to the north-eastern corner of Otao Part No. 3B No. 5 Block, and a right line to the junction of the Whangae Road with the Oromahoe-Opua Road, in Block VIII, Kawakawa Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station Y; thence westerly along a right line to Trig. Station K; thence north-westerly along a right line to the junction of the Waikaramu and Old Bay Roads with the Kaitaia-Whangarei Road, and a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 13, Block IV, Omapere Survey District, the point of commencement.
