of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
J. Huxley, 38 Sandiford Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, has
applied for a license to manufacture mocassins by the machine-
sewn process.
S. Smith, 112A Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland, has
applied for a license to manufacture girls’ and maids’, boys’ and
youths’ shoes, sizes 7-10, 11-1, and 2-7, by the machine-sewn
and cemented processes.
Pharmacy Industry
C. G. Mahon, 89 Great South Road, Auckland, has applied
for a license to operate a new pharmacy at Otahuhu.
W. A. Baylis, Dunedin, has applied for a license to operate a
new pharmacy between the intersection of Young Street and Prince
Albert Road and the intersections of McBride Street with King
Edward Street, Dunedin.
Manufacture of Paua (Haliotis iris) Shell for Sale
The following person has applied for a license to engage in
the industry described in the Industry Licensing (Paua Shell)

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
R. Mills, Katui, Donnelly’s Crossing, via Dargaville, has applied
for a license to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed
outside a store and tea-rooms at Katui on the Dargaville-Opononi
Main Highway.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on
these applications should, not later than the 20th day of March,
1947, submit any written evidence and representations they may
desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to the
Acting-Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE
Land in the Canterbury Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 4th March, 1947.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 11th April, 1947.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 15th April, 1947, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, amount of weighting for improvements, and lease fee. The section may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.
SCHEDULE
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND
Levels County.—Arowhenua Survey District
RESERVE 3697, Block VIII: Area, 5 acres. Capital value, £175. Deposit on deferred payments, £25. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term: ten years), £9 17s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 10s.
Weighted with £25 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising wood and iron shed and 30 chains of road and party boundary fencing.
This section is situated on the Timaru-Fairlie Road, three miles from Washdyke Post-office and School, and one-quarter of a mile from Levels Railway-station, and is suitable for market-gardening or site for worker’s home.
