THE following notice, received by the Minister of Finance from the Mayor of the City of Palmerston North, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

Result of Poll on Proposal to Raise Special Loan
IN pursuance of section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the City of Palmerston North, taken on the 12th day of February, 1947, on the proposal of the Palmerston North City Council to borrow the sum of ninety-two thousand pounds (£92,000) for waterworks purposes—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 585
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1,355
I therefore declare that the above proposal was duly lost.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Westport, taken on Monday, 17th February, 1947, on the proposal of the Westport Borough Council to borrow the sum of £12,200 for the purpose of improving the headworks and reticulation within the borough and extending the water-supply to the Buller County, the following votes were recorded :—

The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 47
The number of informal votes was .. .. 1
I, the undersigned Mayor of the Borough of Westport, therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Result of Poll on Electric Trolley Bus and Streets-construction Loan Proposal
PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at the poll taken on Wednesday, the 26th day of February, 1947, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £858,000 for the purpose of (a) replacing the whole of the city electric and cable transport systems with an electric trolley bus system, (b) paving tramway track areas and reconstructing streets on the trolley bus routes, and (c) widening and regrading Albert Street, the numbers of votes recorded were as follows, viz. :—
