Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed

EDWARD COHEN, Esquire, of Melbourne, in Victoria, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, has this day been appointed by the Honourable Archibald William Blair, Acting Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in Victoria under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Auckland City Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority

Wellington, 18th December, 1946.

In the matter of section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Auckland City Council has been duly authorized to borrow by way of loan the sum of fifty-five thousand pounds (£55,000) by a loan known as the “Municipal Abattoir Extension Loan, 1944”:

And whereas it has not been found necessary to borrow any of the amount so authorized:

And whereas the Auckland City Council has been duly notified in writing by me that it is intended to cancel the unexercised loan authority:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, as amended by section 46 of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, Walter Nash, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Auckland City Council to borrow under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, North Harbour and Blueskin District, for the Purposes of a Mental Hospital

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a mental hospital: And notice is hereby further given that the plans of the land required to be taken are deposited in the post-office at Waitati and are there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Hauraki Plains Drainage District.—Penalty on Overdue Rates

Department of Lands and Survey,

Wellington, 19th December, 1946.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1947, unpaid on 17th January, 1947.

Rates may be paid at any money-order office, or to the Collector of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland C. 1.

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the lands described in the Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 10th day of October, 1946, at page 1585:

And whereas no objection was made in manner prescribed by the said Act to the taking of the lands specified in the said notice: And whereas the said lands are not the lands of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said lands are taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 22nd day of May, 1947, as the date on which the said lands shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

ALL that parcel of land situated in Block II, Onewhero Survey District, containing by admeasurement two (2) roods fourteen (14) perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 20751, being part of Allotment 1, Puni Parish, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 665, folio 271 (Auckland Registry).

Also all that parcel of land situated in Block II, Onewhero Survey District, containing by admeasurement one hundred and sixty-six (166) acres two (2) roods and nine (9) perches, more or less, being part of the land on Deposited Plan 2682, being part of Purapura No. 1 Block, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 796, folio 94 (Auckland Registry).

Also all that area in Block I, Te Mata Survey District, containing by admeasurement three (3) acres and fourteen (14) perches, part of Ngatarawa No. 5 Block, being the land marked “Right-of-way, coloured red,” and intersecting certificate of title, H.B. Vol. 27, folio 120, more particularly shown and marked “Right-of-way” on Deposited Plan No. 2242 (Hawke’s Bay Registry).
