Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy

H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the transfer of the following officers from the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve to the Royal New Zealand Navy, and appoint them to short-service Executive Commissions in the Royal New Zealand Navy with commencing dates, rank, seniority, and periods of service as indicated, under the provisions of the Naval Defence Act, 1913 :-

Temporary Acting-Lieutenant (Acting Temporary Lieutenant-Commander) Robert Alexander Charles Cheyne, R.N.Z.N.V.R., to be Lieutenant-Commander, Royal New Zealand Navy, with seniority of 24th October, 1946, seven years' short-service commission, to date from 24th October, 1946.

Temporary Lieutenant (Special Branch) Victor Edwin Jaynes, R.N.Z.N.V.R., to be Lieutenant, Royal New Zealand Navy, with seniority of 1st November, 1939, seven years' short-service commission, to date from 1st November, 1946.

Commander Frank Edward Taylor, D.S.C., V.D., appointed Commanding Officer of the Wellington Division, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, to date 1st July, 1946.

Commander Alexander Cochrane Swanson, V.D. (retired), transferred to the Active List of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve and appointed Commanding Officer of the Otago Division, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, to date 1st July, 1946.

Commander John George Hilliard, D.S.C., V.D., appointed Commanding Officer of the Auckland Division, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, to date 1st July, 1946.

Lieutenant-Commander Sydney Warren Hicks, V.D., promoted to the rank of Commander and appointed Commanding Officer of the Canterbury Division, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, to date 1st July, 1946.

Mr. Thomas Lewis Luckman, Temporary Acting Commissioned Stores Officer, temporary warrant terminated, to date 14th November, 1946. Entered in the Royal New Zealand Navy with a permanent commission in the rank of Lieutenant (S), with seniority of 1st January, 1946, to date 15th November, 1946.

Mr. Henry Edward Pierce, Temporary Warrant Writer Officer, temporary warrant terminated, to date 14th November, 1946. Entered in the Royal New Zealand Navy with a permanent commission in the rank of Lieutenant (S), with seniority of 1st April, 1946, to date 15th November, 1946.

Mr. Cecil Francis Cutts, Temporary Warrant Stores Officer, temporary warrant terminated, to date 30th November, 1946. Entered in the Royal New Zealand Navy with a permanent commission in the rank of Lieutenant (S), with seniority of 1st December, 1946, to date 1st December, 1946.

Mr. Archie Victor Styles, B.E.M., Temporary Acting Commissioned Writer Officer, temporary warrant terminated, to date 14th November, 1946. Entered for permanent service in the Royal New Zealand Navy in the rank of Commissioned Writer Officer, with seniority of 18th June, 1945, to date 15th November, 1946.

Mr. John Norman Richards, M.B.E., Temporary Warrant Writer Officer, temporary warrant terminated, to date 14th November, 1946. Entered for permanent service in the Royal New Zealand Navy with the rank of Warrant Writer Officer, with seniority of 22nd November, 1942, to date 15th November, 1946.
