Alterations to the Scales of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges and to the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.
GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES
PASSENGERS
42. Westport Section
By omitting paragraphs 2 and 3, and substituting the following :—

Ordinary fares and weekly twelve-trip fares between stations on the Government railways (Waimangaroa Junction excepted) and stations on the Waimangaroa Branch will be charged at the rates prescribed in Regulation 2 or 16, as the case may be, on through mileage plus 2d. on each single and 3d. on each return fare, and 1s. on each weekly twelve-trip ticket.

Season tickets and school season tickets issued between stations on the Waimangaroa Branch and main line stations will be charged the following rates in addition to the rates prescribed for such tickets in Regulations 12, 20, or 21, based on through mileage :—

- Fares between stations on the Waimangaroa Branch, including Waimangaroa Junction, will be charged at the rates prescribed in Regulations 2, 12, 16, 20, or 21.
43. South Island Main Line and Branches
By omitting paragraph 5, and substituting the following :—
- THROUGH BOOKING, DUNEDIN, RAVENSBORNE, AND PORTOBELLO
(a) The following fares will be charged for through booking by rail and steamer between Dunedin, Ravensbourne, and Portobello :—

Tickets at single fare are available for one day only, being the date shown on the ticket.
Tickets at return fare are available for three calendar months, which period shall begin with and include the date shown on the ticket.
(b) Second-class six-trip tickets will be issued for travel by rail and steamer between Dunedin or Ravensbourne and Portobello at a fare of 7s. each.
These tickets will be subject to the same conditions as suburban trip bearer tickets issued under the provisions of Regulation 40.
LUGGAGE, PARCELS, Etc.
45. Checked Luggage
Paragraph 1 : Omit subparagraphs (b), (d), (e), (g), and (h), and substitute the following :—
(b) From any officered station on the North Island Main Line and Branches, including the City Booking-office at Courtenay Place (Wellington) and the booking agency at Karangahape Road (Auckland), to any station on the South Island Main Line and Branches (via Lyttelton or Picton) or to any station on the Nelson Section, via Nelson.
