(xviii) Tokirima–Tatu ; and
(xix) Stratford to the northern boundary of Whanga-
momona County.
(c) Improvement of streets and provision of new streets and
the replacement of bridges and provision of new bridges,
including, in particular—
(i) In Wanganui City : Erection of new bridge
over the Wanganui River ; renewal of public passenger-
transport system ; general streets improvements :
(ii) In New Plymouth : New public passenger-
transport system ; new bridge over the Henui Stream ;
a new stock-route by-passing the borough ; and general
street improvements, including improved traffic-routing :
(iii) General street improvements in the boroughs of
Taihape, Ohakune, Hawera, Eltham, Stratford, Ingle-
wood, and Taumarunui.
(3) Railways : Improved rail facilities for all classes of traffic,
including :—
(a) Grade easements on the New Plymouth line between
Palmerston North and Turakina and between Wanganui
and New Plymouth :
(b) Curve improvements between Marton and Mataroa :
(c) Station rearrangements and improvements at Taumarunui,
Taihape, Marton, Hawera, Stratford, and New Plymouth :
(d) Completion of the Turakina–Oköia deviation.
(4) Airways : The improvement of airfields, airports, and
other facilities for civil aviation, including, in particular, the
following :—
(a) Improvement of New Plymouth Airport :
(b) For Wanganui : Either improvement of existing aero-
drome or provision of a new aerodrome :
(c) Improvement of airfields at Hawera, Stratford, and Karioi,
and provision of new airfields at Marakopa and
Taumarunui :
(d) Provision of airparks for club and private aviation
throughout the area.
(5) Harbours : Improvement of harbour facilities generally,
including at Wanganui wharf repairs, wall-building, current control,
sand stabilization ; a new slip, alterations to the south mole, and
general improvements.
(6) Road Transport : New and additional facilities for trans-
port of passengers and goods generally within the area.
- Utilities
(1) Electricity-supply : Additional generating and substations,
transmission-lines, and reticulation and supply of electricity within
the area generally, and in particular—
(a) Construction of the Whakamaru–Bunnythorpe transmission-
line :
(b) Stratford – New Plymouth transmission-line :
(c) Substations at New Plymouth, Stratford, Waverley, and
Taumarunui :
(d) The extension of facilities for the distribution of electricity
throughout the area, including, particularly, the
reticulation of the Taumarunui, Kaitieke, and Ohura
Counties by the King-country Electric-power Board,
and additional feeder lines and control gear for the
Borough of New Plymouth.
(2) Water-supply, Sewerage, Storm-water, Drainage, and Gas :
New and additional works in various parts of the area, including—
(a) New water-supplies or improvements or extensions of
water-supply in the following boroughs, viz. : Wanganui,
Ohakune, Hawera, Eltham, Stratford, Inglewood, New
Plymouth, Waitara, and Taumarunui :
(b) New sewerage, storm-water, or drainage works, or improve-
ments or extensions at Eltham, Stratford, Inglewood,
Waitara, and Taumarunui.
(3) New cemetery at New Plymouth.
- Subdivisional Development
(1) The development of areas for residential, commercial,
industrial, and recreational purposes throughout the area, including
the construction of dwellinghouses and other works provided for
by the Housing Act, 1919, and other Acts, more particularly at
New Plymouth, Hawera, Stratford, Wanganui, Marton, Taihape,
Taumarunui, Ohakune, and Raetihi, and including the provision of
Native housing throughout the Aotea Native Land District.
(2) The subdivision, regrouping, and improvement of lands
affected by the reclamation and drainage works, and the better
utilization thereof.
(3) The reconstruction and improvement, where necessary, of
existing roads, streets, and bridges approaching and servicing
developmental works.
- Social Services
The provision of sites, buildings, and services throughout the
area for social and cultural and recreational purposes, including—
(1) Educational—
(a) Rebuilding of Wanganui Girls’ College on a new site :
(b) Replacement of Keith Street School, Wanganui, and the
Stratford School :
(c) New intermediate schools at Wanganui, New Plymouth,
and Taumarunui :
(d) Extensive alterations and additions at Wanganui Technical
School, New Plymouth Boys’ High School, New
Plymouth Girls’ High School, and Hawera Technical
School :
(e) A new district high school at Waitara.
(2) Health—
(a) Rebuilding of Wanganui Hospital :
(b) Additional nurses’ accommodation, medical, surgical, and
chest ward accommodation, and maternity accommoda-
tion for the Taranaki Hospital Board.
(c) New hospital at Lake Alice.
(3) Cultural—
(a) New broadcasting stations at Wanganui, Taumarunui,
Hawera, and New Plymouth :
(b) New and additional library accommodation at New Ply-
mouth, Taumarunui, and elsewhere within the area.
(4) Recreational—
(a) At Taihape : Provision of additional playing areas :
(b) At Hawera : Improvement or replacement of the swimming-
baths :
(c) At Stratford : Improvements to the swimming-baths and
provision of a camping-site :
(d) At Eltham : Provision of a community centre :
(e) At New Plymouth : Development of reserves.
- Defence
Construction and improvement of defence installations, includ-
ing rebuilding of Wanganui Drill-hall and additional dormitory
accommodation at Waiouru.
- Public Administration
New facilities for Government and local administration,
including—
(a) Government centres and accommodation for Social Security
Department at New Plymouth, Wanganui, and
Taumarunui :
(b) New Courthouses at Wanganui and New Plymouth, and
police-stations at Wanganui, New Plymouth, Hunter-
ville, Opunake, and Waitara :
(c) Municipal buildings at Taumarunui.

Taranaki Land Districts, bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the sea-coast in line with the north-western side of Hunia Terrace
(Town of Himatangi Beach), Block III, Sandy Survey District ;
then easterly along the northern side of Hunia Terrace and
Koputara Road to its intersection with the western side of No. 12
Wanganui–Levin State Highway ; then northerly along the
western side of the said Wanganui–Levin Highway to a point in
line with the northern boundary of Lot 4 on D.P. 4003, being a
subdivision of Sections 30 to 34 inclusive, Carnarvon Township,
Block III, Te Kauwau Survey District ; then to and along the
northern boundaries of the said Lot 4, to and along the western
boundary of Section 1, Douglas Block, to its north-western corner ;
then easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections 1 to 9

corner of Suburban Section 137, Town of Halcombe, Block V,
Oroua Survey District ; then north-easterly along the south-
eastern boundary of the said Section 137 to its easternmost corner ;
then by a right line through Lot 12A, D.P. 1550, being part Sub-
division E, Manchester Block, to its easternmost corner ; then
along the northern boundaries of Lots 1 and 3, D.P. 7211, being
part Subdivision E, Manchester Block ; then northerly along the
western boundary of Lot 76 and easterly along the northern
