The first increment is granted after completion of one year’s satisfactory service and after passing the probationary warders’ examination. On completion of twenty years’ continuous permanent service a bonus of £10 will be awarded if so recommended by the Controller-General of Prisons.

Same as clerical scale. † At any point in clerical scale. ‡ Also free quarters. § Deduction from salary for residence or quarters provided. || When the maximum is reached an increment of £15 may be granted to warders of five years’ service who have passed the Principal Warders’ Examination if so recommended by the Controller-General of Prisons.
