BOROUGH OF OTAHUHU

RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the Otahuhu Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £8,800, authorized to be raised by the Otahuhu Borough Council for the purpose of providing and laying water-mains and appliances to extend the borough water-supply to the Middlemore Hospital, the said Otahuhu Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of seven-sixteenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the rating district, comprising the whole of the Borough of Otahuhu; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

RESOLUTION

THE following regulations were laid before the committee of the Wellington Racing Club at a meeting on the 1st day of August, 1946, at Wellington, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. E. L. Riddiford, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. E. L. Riddiford, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. J. T. Spears seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB

REGULATIONS

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Wellington Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as the said club), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the property, situated in the district of Manawatu and known as the Awapuni Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—

(a) Bookmakers:

(b) Bookmakers' clerks, bookmakers' assistants, and bookmakers' agents:

(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association:

(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support:

(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908:

Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Wellington Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 1st day of August, 1946, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL

NOTICE TO DEBENTURE-HOLDERS OF INTENTION TO EXERCISE OPTION IN THE MATTER OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES INTEREST REDUCTION AND LOANS CONVERSION ACT, 1932-33, AND THE MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH LOANS CONVERSION ORDER, 1934 (No. 1)

IN pursuance of section 16 of the Mount Eden Borough Loans Conversion Order, 1934 (No. 1), and the terms under which securities authorized by the said Order were issued, the Mount Eden Borough Council at a meeting held on the 21st day of May, 1946, resolved to exercise the option contained in the securities in respect of all debentures maturing on the 1st day of April, 1952, of the Mount Eden Borough Conversion Loan, 1934 (No. 1); and public notice is accordingly hereby given of the Mount Eden Borough Council's intention to redeem such debentures of the said loan on the 1st day of April, 1947, and interest thereon will cease on the said day, viz.:—

Debentures Nos. 1929 to 2138 (inclusive) maturing on the 1st April, 1952.
