THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :— John Chipelen Robins to be District Public Trustee at Blenheim on and from the 1st day of February, 1946. Rona May Ransom to be a Shorthand Reporter under the Shorthand Reporters Act, 1908, on and from the 17th day of December, 1945. William John Mathers to be Receiver of Land Revenue for the Otago Land District for the purposes of the Land Act, 1924, on and from the 13th day of November, 1945. George Robert Watt to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, on and from the 10th day of December, 1945. Donald Frederick Nelson to be Gas Examiner for the purposes of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations 1924, on and from the 18th day of December, 1945. Gordon Speedy Farquhar to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, on and from the 21st day of January, 1946. Howard James Dunford to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Levin, on and from the 12th day of December, 1945. Joan Vidder (Miss) to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Mokai, on and from the 21st day of December, 1945. Ronald Gregory Durney to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Awanui, on and from the 28th day of December, 1945. John Cameron Pirrit Leathem to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Russell, on and from the 9th day of January, 1946. Gordon Stanley Bateman to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Morrinsville, on and from the 9th day of January, 1946. The Enemy Trading (Italy) Notice 1946 PURSUANT to clause (2) of Regulation 5 of the Enemy Trading Emergency Regulations 1939, the Minister of Industries and Commerce doth hereby give notice as follows :— 1. This notice may be cited as the Enemy Trading (Italy) Notice 1946. 2. The Enemy Trading (Italy) Notice 1945† is revoked. 3. Notwithstanding anything contained in Regulation 2 of the Enemy Trading Emergency Regulations 1939, any person, unless the Minister of Industries and Commerce otherwise directs, may, except as provided in clause 4 hereof, trade within Italy with the Italian State or with any individual or body of persons whether corporate or unincorporate carrying on business therein. 4. The license comprised in this notice shall not extend to or authorize— (1) The performance of any contract of insurance or reinsurance entered into with or for the benefit of any person within the description contained in clause 3 hereof before the 5th day of September, 1945 : (2) The payment of any bill of exchange payable in New Zealand and drawn before the 5th day of September, 1945, to or for the benefit of any such person as aforesaid : (3) The encashment of any coupons by or on behalf of any such person as aforesaid. 5. For the purpose of this notice “trade” is confined to supplying any goods to or for the benefit of the Italian State or any individual or body of persons whether corporate or unincorporate carrying on business therein, or to obtaining goods from the Italian State or any such individual or body of persons as aforesaid, but is deemed to include— (a) Transactions incidental to supplying or obtaining such goods : (b) The paying, transmitting, or receiving of any money, negotiable instrument, or security for money in respect of such trade. This notice may be cited as the Enemy Trading (Finland) Notice 1946. 2. The Enemy Trading (Finland) Notice 1945+ is revoked. 3. Notwithstanding anything contained in Regulation 2 of the Enemy Trading Emergency Regulations 1939, any person, unless the Minister of Industries and Commerce otherwise directs, may, except as provided in clause 4 hereof, trade within Finland with the Finnish State or with any individual or body of persons whether corporate or unincorporate carrying on business therein. 4. Notice under the Enemy Property Emergency Regulations 1939 IN exercise of the power conferred upon me by clause (3) of Regulation 6 of the Enemy Property Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, His Majesty’s Attorney-General, do hereby direct that the said Regulation 6 shall not apply to any moneys being the property of or payable to an enemy in pursuance or in consequence of a transaction authorized by the Enemy Trading (Italy) Notice 1946. PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, and the rules thereunder, the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act doth hereby appoint Friday, the 15th day of February, 1946, to be the date for holding the election of one member of each of the Balclutha, Kaitangata, and Milton Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. J.
